Select sysdate, systimestamp, current_date, current_timestamp from dual;

 

 

This statement returns three versions of the current system time, which is also called the default time of the time zone of the current session of the system.

Sysdate returns the system time.

Systimestamp is also the timestamp of the current system.

Current_timestamp is related to the time zone settings. The returned Second is the system, and the returned date and time are converted based on the time zone.
Current_date is the rounding of current_timestamp to seconds.

 

These are features in oracl9i or later version.
Current_timestamp and current_date give session timestamp/date.
Systimestamp and sysdate give Databse date.
The two obviusly may be in different timezones.
