This method is summarized by the author's many years of experience in English learning at home and abroad and combined with the teaching experience of language experts. It only improves the oral English and listening. It is suitable for those who have a certain degree of English basics and want to improve their oral English, but those who do not want to spend money to study abroad and attend expensive English training courses. In addition, some of these methods will be special. If you use this method three to six months a day, it may not be suitable for everyone, this method is not suitable for you.
Before introducing the method, I first divide the oral English into three levels. Level0, level1, and level2. No matter the first time I studied ABC or I had four or six levels of college students, most people had 0 levels of oral English. What is the difference between level1 and 0 is that you can blurt out when speaking English, without first translating the Chinese to be expressed into English in your mind. Although the sentence is slow, as long as there is no too long pause, no translation process for Chinese, congratulations, you already belong to level1, and the following text does not need to be viewed again. What is
Level2: When you speak English, when people think of you as a person who has grown up abroad, it means that your spoken English is almost the same as that of the person whose mother tongue is English. This is level2.
It is difficult to change from 0 to 1. In addition to the time and method that suits you, you also need to have a language environment. If you have been studying abroad for a year or two, or have a foreign friend who often communicates with each other, you can generally reach level1. The change from 1 to 2 is even harder. For most people, it is never possible. I have been working abroad for almost five years and have seen only one person reach level2. If you think you are level0 and want to upgrade to 1, but suffer from no language environment in China, you can try this method. Because there is no translation process, 1 is more coherent and natural than 0. when speaking English, you can change from focusing on English itself to effective communication. This is a leap in spoken English and the standard of fluent English required by foreign companies.
The method is named easyspeaking because it is easy to learn, can be practiced anytime, anywhere, and can improve the listening ability while improving the spoken language. The methods are summarized as three rules: Forget grammar; thinking in English; spontaneous speaking.
1) Forget grammar forgets the syntax
This is the core of this method, revolutionizing our Chinese-English education. Chinese English language education always puts grammar first, because it is exam-oriented. This violates the original purpose of language birth. Language is a tool for communication, and effective communication is the most important. Think about how we learned to speak when we were young? Are you sure you want to learn the subject predicates first? I can assure you that Chinese at the age of 3 or 4 is better than you have learned English for more than 10 years. Why, because when we were young, we used to imitate the speech of the adults, rather than learning the syntax first. Many language experts also teach us how to forget our mother tongue when learning a language. That's simple. How can I forget it. In fact, it is just like a child who learns to talk, putting communication first, jumping out of the limit of grammar, making the process of speaking English without translation, without interference from the Chinese mother tongue. Some people say that the syntax is wrong. Will foreigners understand it and laugh at me? Think about a foreigner speaking Chinese to you. The main predicates are reversed, so you can certainly understand them and boast that they can speak Chinese well. Foreigners can also understand us. If it takes one or two minutes for you to think about the past word segmentation and add an Attribute Clause or something in your mind, foreigners will not be able to stand it, there are still syntax errors in the speech by the President of the United States.
One day, when you arrive at level1, you will find that Chinese and English are two different systems in your mind, so you can switch freely without interfering with each other. What a cool thing!
In addition, forgetting the syntax will not make your syntax worse. The second rule below will teach you how to check the syntax.
2) thinking in English
This rule allows you to practice English anytime, anywhere, and on any occasion. Simply put, you can imagine some topics, scenario conversations, feelings in your heart or what you want to do. Then you can talk to yourself in English, without making a sound, and then meditate in your mind. For example, when you go to work in the subway, describe your work plan in English. When you walk down the street and see an interesting thing, describe something in English; before going to bed at night, think about what you did today, who you met, and what you said. This means creating a self-closed language environment without a closed language environment and training anytime, anywhere. Sometimes you need to force yourself to repeat what you want and want to express in English.
Pay attention to the first rule. We will reverse the order in which we first want to talk about the syntax and then check the syntax error. What happened should be in the past tense, the plural should be added with S, and the pronoun should use She instead of he. Over time, you will find that you have made fewer and fewer syntax errors. You can make a sound only when you are a person. You only need to "think" in public. Remember.
Oral English and written English have different expressions. I used the expressions in written English frequently, for example, a sentence and various clauses, this is actually wrong. When I have been abroad for many years, it is very easy to hear from outsiders. Few people use clauses. Avoid using hidden words and use as many phrases as possible. All of the above are helpful for quick oral expression.
3) spontaneous speaking
Spontaneous has spontaneous and natural meanings. This rule is translated as: no preparation for speeches or conversations. The last rule is silent training. Now it is a very important step. Dr. taneous speaking is from my foreign English teacher. His name is Mike. He was born in Ireland and has more than 40 years of English teaching experience. At the beginning of our English class every day, we must first train without preparation for an English Speech for 30 minutes. He has a box containing hundreds of topics. He will ask a student to randomly pick out a topic from the box and ask him to stand in front of the podium to give a speech. In about five minutes, he will ask you to stop and point out your syntax error word by word. Then designate another student to ask questions about the speech and answer questions from the students on the stage. The topic is difficult and easy. For example, you can describe where you went last weekend and talk about your best friend. If you change your gender, what will happen? ^_^ !. Because you randomly select a topic, your speech is unprepared (compared with the preparation training of the second rule), which also reflects your oral level. Because standing on the stage, you must be nervous, your brain is running fast, and your attention is highly focused on the speech content, rather than the English expression. This forces you to forget the interference of your mother tongue on the expression. The 5-minute effect on the platform is better than the effect of one-week English exercises. Each person will be called to give two speeches each week. Later, I only took over a month of class for work reasons (my friend did not have an interview internally), but the effect was so obvious, I have almost no complete sentence to be able to communicate freely with foreigners. However, at that time I had not reached level1, so I still needed to translate it first.
The following describes how I got to level1. After one year of work, although there is a language environment, there are not many opportunities for it work, and there has been no breakthrough in spoken language. One day I decided to change my job. After my website posted my resume, I had two phone interviews on average every day, and I had a face-to-face interview every week. At first, I couldn't understand many of my phone calls, and my own expression was also awkward. There was no technical problem, that is, there was a language problem and a lot of opportunities were wasted. However, I was not discouraged, so I kept answering the phone, interviewing, listening, speaking and interviewing skills. After two months, I finally found a satisfactory company. After entering the new company to communicate with colleagues, I found that my oral skills have improved a lot compared with the previous ones. I became fluent in communication and no longer wanted to speak Chinese. I went home to turn on TV, all the news can be understood. I felt like I was suddenly enlightened, And I was happier than finding a new job. Looking back at what happened in the past two months, I have been working on spontaneous.
Speaking Training Means no preparation for the conversation. I will never know the next question from the interviewer, so I am not prepared. The interview will be tight and I will focus on how to answer questions. In this way, I achieved level1.
Spontaneous speaking features: no preparation, moderate tension, focus on communication content rather than language expression. Because there is no language environment in China, the training of this rule is also the most difficult in the whole method. Not everyone has the opportunity and courage to train spontaneous speaking. I would like to say a few places and methods for such training: where foreigners gather, such as Sanlitun in Beijing, to communicate with foreigners in an appropriate way and pretend to be a reporter, I want to know how he feels when he comes to China. In the English corner, he wants to talk to someone who is a little higher than himself. Some English corners have speeches (such as the Chaoyang cultural center in Beijing, I used to go there every week). I must seize this opportunity. I used to call free customer service from abroad by phone at home. I heard someone practiced this; there is also an English Training Course for foreign teachers. At least twice a week
The speaking training usually takes three months to feel the effect.
After all the three rules are completed, the most important rule is not to mention the willingness or motivation to learn English. Why can't I learn English quickly when I put a person abroad? In addition to the language environment, there is also a willingness to learn. It is often said that it is survival English. Yes, if you work without learning English, you will not be able to find a job without food. If you do not learn English at school, you will not be able to complete the course without understanding the lectures. There are very few oral English in China. Most people do not have such pressure and have no strong willingness to learn spoken English. What should I do? Learn self-motivation and suggestion. Take out a piece of paper and write down at least ten reasons for learning spoken language, such as traveling around the world, making foreign friends ...... Take a look when you want to be lazy. All in all, it's hard to make learning a part of your life. If you don't learn one day, you will feel something bad.
Now, all the rules in the method are not invented by me. They all come from the teaching experience of language experts, and I just use them for my purposes. Hope to help those who want to or are learning spoken English.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
(1). The purpose of learning spoken English is to communicate with others. Therefore, the important order of several elements in spoken English should be: Fluent-accurate-appropriate.
(2 ). find a learning partner to practice oral English. english corner is a good place where we can not only practice oral English, but also exchange English learning experiences, broaden our horizons and improve our interest in English learning.
(3 ). if you cannot find a school partner or have few opportunities to join the English corner, there are many ways to practice your oral English. for example, you can use your own English to create an English environment. you can describe what you see and dictate what you are doing.
(4 ). this method is very effective and easy to adhere to --- interpreting Chinese-English Contrast (or English-Chinese Contrast) novels or other books. first, we should first read the Chinese part, and then interpret it into English one sentence at a time. After completing a short section, we will go to the corresponding English part in the book and compare it with our interpretation, we can immediately find errors, shortcomings, and progress in our interpretation. please note: At first, you should select relatively simple books, and do a lot of work. It is not obvious to only do one or two articles. the Start may be slow and time-consuming, but please stick to it. This is an accelerated process as a whole. in the advanced stage, please exercise on time to speed up response and fluency.
* As adults learn English, poor memory is a obstacle. It is often difficult to repeat or recite texts, or because the vocabulary is too small, it is too difficult to directly interpret texts, this can effectively solve this problem: First, you can learn the English text, thoroughly understand the entire article, then read the Chinese translation, and interpret the Chinese translation back to the English. this is equivalent to retelling and interpreting!
* Benefits:
1. You can practice your oral English as long as you want.
2. A senior teacher always points out your shortcomings and mistakes.
3. The theme scope is very wide and can break through our own mindset. For example, we always like to talk about topics we are familiar with, so we are always practicing the same language, and progress is of course slow.
4. Choose novels, humorous stories, or good short articles to read, so that we can stick to it with enough interest.
5. Some of the authentic English usage that we see when studying English classes directly will be discovered by this method.
6. I am very impressed with my knowledge and mistakes. this means that we have been doing Chinese-English translation exercises. Many English translations are hard-pressed, so we are quite impressed. it is much more impressive than learning English texts directly.
7. After a lot of exercises, you will feel like you can't translate nothing, your translation level is greatly enhanced, and your verbal expressiveness is greatly improved!
(5 ). listener translation-role swaps: a group of three people simulating translation practices. one person speaks Chinese, one person speaks English, acts as a foreigner, and one person translates. after practicing for a while, swap roles. this is a very good translation training method, and also a good way to learn from each other and learn from each other. in addition, the response speed and capability can be greatly improved. the advanced phase of this method is simultaneous interpretation. We can interpret what we listen to in English when we listen to the broadcast, watch TV, or hold a meeting.
(6 ). oral compositions and 3-minute training: This method is suitable for intensive training. find a question for a one-minute oral essay and record it. listen to the recording, find out the deficiencies and errors, and then make a two-minute oral essay on the subject. listen to and find out the deficiencies and progress, and continue to make a three-minute oral essay. this is an advanced oral training with excellent results.
(7 ). repeat exercise: the simplest and most effective way to learn spoken language. it is especially suitable for beginners and intermediate scholars to use their own words to recite the English stories or short articles they have heard and should be practiced in large quantities.
(8 ). if possible, we can also read the English tongue twisters out loud and fast (just like a crosstalk performer practicing his mouth). At the same time, we can also add sugar in the mouth to increase the intensity of training. in this way, our oral muscles can quickly adapt to English pronunciation, making our oral English quite fluent, clear, and confident. for example:
☆A big black bug bit the back of a big black bear. The big black bear bit back the big black bug.
☆This Fish has a thin fin; that fish has a fat fin;
This fish is a fish that has a thinner fin than that fish.
(9 ). pay special attention to the use of phrases and small words. A major disadvantage of Chinese-style English, especially oral English, is that Chinese students like to use big words, while authentic spoken English is full of short words, lively and vivid phrases. most of these phrases are composed of small words.
(10) 1. A large number of pictures are used to understand the meaning of new words and the plot of the story. This is a common method used by children in English and is also used by adults.
2. It is very important to use the English-English dictionary instead of the English-Chinese dictionary.
3. Strengthen listening training, especially for courses that explain English in English.
4. if you have no chance to have a closed language environment, you 'd better try to create and train a self-closed language environment. for example, force yourself to express all words in English within a week. as long as you can stick to it for a week, the effect is quite obvious, no matter how bad your English is !.
(11). Although the spoken language has its own characteristics, it is closely linked with other aspects of English. For example, frequent practice of writing can make the spoken language precise and accurate.
To better improve your oral English, you must attend professional oral English training.
