Overlapping wired and wireless networks improves network speed and overlapping wired and wireless networks
Concepts
When both wired and wireless networks are connected, will the computer use a wired network or a wireless network? With this question, after some searches, we found that we can use it at the same time and increase the network speed! First, there is a concept of the number of hops. Let's take a look at Baidu encyclopedia's explanation:
Hop: route. A route is a hop. During transmission, multiple networks are required. Each transmitted network device point (capable of Routing) is called a hop, and the address is its ip address. The number of hops is the number of accumulators passed by. To prevent useless data packets from flowing online. Specify the integer (range: 1 ~ 9999). It is used to select the route that best matches the destination address in the forwarding packet among multiple routes in the routing table. The selected route has the minimum number of hops. The number of hops reflects the quantity, speed, reliability, throughput, and management attributes of the hops.
View the number of hops
That is to say, whether to select wireless or wired networks will be affected by the number of hops. If the number of hops is small, it will be preferentially selected. Open cmd and run the following command to view the information:
route print
The output result is as follows:
IPv4 route table ============================================ ====================================================== active routing: network destination network mask Gateway Interface hops 0.0.0.0 0.0.0 10.10.49.1 10.10.49.69 20 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.38 10
The first is my wired network, the second is my wireless network. You can see that my wired network has 20 hops and the wireless network has 10 hops.
Set the number of hops
After searching for information, if you set the same number of hops, you can use the stack network,
Set the location
Change the adapter settings --> right-click an adapter Property --> double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) --> advanced in the lower right --> cancel "automatic hops" --> enter the custom number in "interface hops"
You can set a value of 15 between 10 and 20.
Test
My wired network is slow, and the wireless network is a little faster. Through the test, I set the number of hops of the wireless network to an hour, and the measured network speed is about the speed of the wireless network, set the hops of the wired network to an hour, and the measured network speed is about the speed of the wired network. When the same hops are set, in my current network environment, at the beginning, the network speed is close to the speed of the wired network, and the subsequent speed is gradually increased to reach a high network speed:
Test Tool: 360 broadband speedometer
* First, no setup is required. Test the three-time wireless network speed: 640,668,639.
* No test is performed on the three-way wired network speed: 133,121,117
* Set the number of hops for wired and wireless networks to 15, and test the network speed for five times: 895,907,847,827,852
* Unplug the cable for test three times: 696,694,671
* Plug in the cable for testing three times: 117,904,930
Summary
The above test shows that the network speed test is 117 when the cable is unplugged and plugged in again. The setting may not take effect yet. Then, the test is normal. Based on the test results, setting the same number of hops does improve the network speed, but the network speed remains low at the beginning. when the test is about to end, the network speed will soar to the overlay speed.
Some people on the internet responded that the stacking speed was not perfect. One network may be busy and the other network may be idle. The test may be affected by my network environment, interested partners can perform more tests in practice.
