1. Understand the Documents and Settings folder

The Documents and Settings folder is used to store user configuration information in the Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 operating system. By default, the root directory of the system partition contains: Administrator, all users, default user, and user folder (1 ). Documents and Settings stores information about the user's current desktop environment, application settings, and personal data. When we log on to Windows 2000/XP/200, the system automatically creates a configuration file for us. Start the Registry Editor, locate the Shell Folders branch according to the preceding steps, and then double-click the "favorites" subkey in the branch to open the "Edit string" dialog box for this subkey (2 ), in the "value data" Field of the dialog box, enter the location of the specified favorites folder.
