At present, Internet cafes have seen coexistence of Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. In the face of these operating systems, interconnection has become a major challenge. When workstations of different operating systems access each other, the name of the client of the other party can be seen in the "Network Neighbor" of the workstation, but no shared content can be seen after clicking, or the system prompts you that you cannot find the network path or access permission.

Step 1: check physical connections between workstations in the Network

The network adapter and network adapter are the basic devices for network connection. After the workstation is turned on, if the physical connection between the workstation is normal, the light on each network adapter should be on, which indicates that the connection is normal. If not, check whether the power of the hub or vswitch is on. If the light of each client connection is on, the connection is normal. In addition, you can also use the network tester to check whether the physical connection of the network cable is successful.

Step 2: Check the network configuration

Open the Properties dialog box for network neighbors and check whether the TCP/IP protocol has been installed in the Network part of the computer. TCP/IP is installed by default in Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems. For workstations that use a fixed IP address, check whether the IP address settings are correct.

The simplest way to check whether the TCP protocol works properly is to use the Ping command. For example, if my IP address is 192.168.1.26 and our internal gateway address is 192.168.1.254, to check whether the TCP protocol of the workstation works properly, enter ping 192.168.1.254 at the doscommand prompt. If a prompt is displayed, the TCP protocol works properly.

If you do not see these prompts, but see "Request timed out", it indicates that the network settings of the job may be faulty. Check the problem.

2. Open related Network Services

In the "run" project in the "Start" menu, enter Services. msc to open the service options, and check whether the Computer Browse and Server network Services are enabled. If not, open them.

3. Set network settings in the Group Policy

In the "run" project in the "Start" menu, enter gpedit. msc to open the Group Policy settings. In group policy settings, you need to set the following options:

① Deny access to this computer from the network: In the Group Policy Setting dialog box, the Local Computer Policy → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Local Policies → user rights assignment, find "Deny access to this computer from the network" and delete the Guest user.

② Network access-local account sharing and security mode: in the Local Computer Policy → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Local Policies → security options, find the "Network Access-local account sharing and security mode" option and change it to "classic-Local User Authentication ".

4. Windows XP Firewall

In the properties of the local connection, find "Internet firewall" in the advanced options and set it to disabled. Otherwise, the system is prone to access failures.
