PfSense is a commonly used firewall software. IT is powerful and open-source, which is favored by the majority of IT people ., FreeBSD is an open-source version customized for firewall and router functions. It is installed on a computer and serves as a firewall and router in the network. It is well known for its reliability and provides features that only exist in expensive commercial firewalls. It can be configured through WEB pages, upgraded and managed without the need for the user to have the underlying knowledge of FreeBSD. PfSense is usually deployed as a border firewall, router, wireless access point, DHCP server, DNS server, and VPN endpoint.

I use VMware to select iso for startup (only if VMware is installed first). You can use a CD to start it on the instance and Enter directly.

Operation Environment Introduction:

The procedure is as follows:

1. Download The Pfsense2.2.4 Installation File and decompress it to the IOS image file,

2. Create a VM and select create a VM.

The Pfsense creation operation in VMware Worksattion is not described in detail here. Pfsense has low requirements on system hardware, so select 2 CPUs, M memory, and 20 GB hard disk. In our current environment, select only one network card and connect to the existing network in bridging mode.

3. Install Pfsense

After you press enter, a series of files will be loaded. After loading is complete, you will be prompted to select local installation or CD startup. Here we enter I to select local installation.

After local installation is selected, the following figure is displayed. Select the last option and press Enter.

Select the first option for quick installation. Select the second type if you want to customize the installation.

Confirm Installation

As shown in, press Enter.

Select Restart after installation

After restarting, remember to remove the installation disc.

After the system is restarted, A Configuration Wizard is displayed, as shown in figure

Whether to configure Vlan for system upgrade. Select N.

The system asked which Nic is configured as the WAN port. Because we only have EM0 Nic, we chose EM0. If you have multiple NICs, you can specify the WAN port Nic and LAN port Nic.

After EM0 is selected, the following message is displayed. To enable the firewall and NAT functions of the WAN port, press Enter.

After you press enter, the system will ask us to confirm whether the above operation is performed.

After the operation is complete, the following interface appears, indicating that the installation is complete. Next, you will have time to write functions such as local IP addresses.
