First step

First of all you need a good film. In this tutorial, I decided to make a self-portrait, so I need my friend's help to take some photos.

On the basis of your composite image, adjust the contrast, color balance, color level and so on to create a more dynamic image.

I really shouldn't say that, but I often use Photoshop's automatic contrast, automatic color and automatic color-level features (in the Image menu), and if you don't want to manually adjust, using these automatic features is very practical.

Fourth Step

I hope my final work is warmer than the negatives just now, in order to get it closer to what I want, I add the purple layer to the blending mode of the color filter.

Fifth Step

Now we're going to do the time-consuming part: the triangle grid. There is no secret trick, you need to do it by hand. Why? Because your brain is better at drawing facial contours than any script or automated software.

But here are some suggestions. Small parts need small triangles. Never quadrilateral-they're just being misread, sticking to triangles. If you have a picture that has the same straight nose as I do, a mellow nose is very cumbersome.

Use a small brush to create your grid on an empty image. Use a lighter color than the picture. I like blue or green, because both colors are not on the negatives (unless there is a mantis tattoo on the neck).

Sixth step

If you've come this far, pat yourself on the chest, you've done a lot of hard work. Now is the time to improve any triangle with errors. You need to put your mind on the grid, so hide the negatives. Find where you forgot to create the triangle. Once you've perfected it, triangle grid, change its color to white to match the black background and save it in JPG format.

Now start illustrator.
