Select the Edit menu, move the mouse pointer over preferences, and click the Text command on the Pop-up submenu to open the Preferences dialog box. As shown in the following illustration:
1. Text Options
Use smart quotes: This is the default selection. Smart quotes, also known as printed quotes, are confused with the font's curves. Select to use curved quotes instead of straight quotes when entering text.
Enable missing Glyph protection: This option is selected by default. If the document uses a font that is not installed on the system, a warning message appears when you open the document, and Photoshop indicates which fonts are missing, and we can replace the missing fonts with the matching fonts available.
Display the font name in English: cancel this by default. Select to display the Asian font name in English in the Font drop-down list in the character panel and the text Tools Options bar, or in Chinese if the item is canceled.
2. Select Text Engine options
The default selection is East Asia. Used to display Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text in the character and paragraph panels. After you change, it will take effect the next time you start Photoshop.
