When you use Photoshop for a long time, you will often have to use the keyboard to control the Navigator (navigation) faster than using the mouse. Here are some common navigator shortcuts:
Home= to the upper-left corner of the canvas
End= to the lower right corner of the canvas
pageup= Scroll the canvas up one page
pagedown= Scroll the canvas down one page
Ctrl+pageup= the canvas to the left to move one page
Ctrl+pagedown= the canvas to the right by scrolling one page
shift+pageup= scroll up 10 pixels up the canvas
shift+pagedown= Scroll down 10 pixels down the canvas
Ctrl+shift+pageup= Scrolls the canvas to the left by 10 pixels
ctrl+shift+pagedown= Scroll the canvas to the right by 10 pixels
It is convenient to use CTRL+TAB/CTRL+F6 to switch between multiple documents (or you can use the Window menu).
Use the Restore command [F12] (File>revert) To restore the current document to its last saved state.
Warning: In Photoshop5.0, the Restore command clears the history at the same time! This means that all changes will be lost once the restore command was last saved! Photoshop5.5 corrected this point.
The channel also has its default corresponding hotkey.
This is a quick and easy way to add, subtract, and intersect between a selection/mask that is stored as a channel. Some common patterns are listed here:
RGB color CMYK Color Index color
CTRL + "~" =rgb
ctrl+1= Red
Ctrl+2= Green
ctrl+3= Blue
ctrl+4= Other Channels
ctrl+9= Other Channels
CTRL + "~" =cmyk
ctrl+1= Cyan
Ctrl+2= Magenta
ctrl+3= Yellow
Ctrl+4= Black
ctrl+5= Other Channels
ctrl+9= Other Channels
ctrl+1= Index
ctrl+2= Other Channels
ctrl+9= Other Channels
For example, to create a selection to represent the intersection of Channel 7 and Channel 9, press ctrl+alt+7 (to load Channel 7 as a selection) and then press Byctrl+alt+shift+9 (again to intersect Channel 9).
Hold down the CTRL key and drag and drop in the agent preview area of the navigator to update the viewable area of the current document.
Tip: Hold down the SHIFT key while dragging the display box in the agent preview area to lock the direction of movement horizontally or vertically.
Tip: In the Panel options in the Navigator panel, you can change the color of the display box in the agent preview area.
To perform a single step in an action, select the steps you want to perform and hold down the CTRL key to play (at the bottom of the behavior panel).
Note: To change the parameters of some of the commands in the action, double-click the steps to open the related dialog box: Any newly filled values are automatically stored.
To start with a step in the action, just select the start step and press the play button (at the bottom of the behavior panel).
