In this tutorial, we'll create a real three-dimensional text scene with Photoshop by simply setting the 3D text in illustrator.
In this lesson, we'll simply set up 3D text with illustrator and then create a real three-dimensional text scene with Photoshop. You need to master some advanced PS knowledge to complete this tutorial. Before we start, we're going to download the images we want to use from the sxh.hu Web site. All the pictures are free to download, here are links: 1, 2, 3, 4 then let's start by creating a real 3D effect that only takes a few short steps. Try, you can according to your ideas free play, I am full of confidence to you (slowly step by step followed by a big bogey oh ~). The image above is what we are going to create (in order to save space without uploading larger images)
Let's look at the final effect chart:
Step 1
In illustrator a blank document. I used a visually appealing font (the font is a bit thicker) and this foreground color: # CCCCCC. Then go to effect > three-dimensional > Extrude and Bevel, set the value as shown in the following figure. Then copy ((Ctrl or Command + C)) three-dimensional text.
Step 2
Let's open Photoshop, create a new file (1280 x 1024 px), and open the image as a background. The three-dimensional text (created in step 1th) is then pasted into the canvas as a smart object.
Step 3
Next, go to the filter > Render > Lighting effect, set the value as shown in the following figure. So the brightness of the text matches the scene.
Step 4
Select the Smart object layer, right-click the layer, and select Copy layer > Destination: New Document; Name: Map. Then go to layer > Grid > Smart Objects. Save the file in MAP.PSD format to your desktop.
Step 5 Now, let's use the replace texture to save the previous document, delete the raster three-dimensional text, and paste this onto a new layer. This will be our first texture. Go to the filter twist replacement, look for MAP.PSD, set the horizontal and vertical values are 50. Then select all (press CTRL +a or command
Step 5
Now, let's use "replace texture" to save the previous document, delete the raster three-dimensional text, and paste this onto a new layer. This will be our first texture.
Go to filter > Twist > Replace, look for "MAP.PSD", set the horizontal and vertical values are 50. Then select all (press CTRL +a or COMMAND + A), and then copy the selections.
Step 6
Paste the "rock texture" on the new layer above the three-dimensional smart object. Change the blending mode to overlay.
Press CTRL + Click the thumbnail of the smart object to select the text shape, and then press CTRL (command) + Shift +i, and then click the DEL (remove) extra texture (on the "rock texture").
Then use the Magic Wand tool to select the front of the three-dimensional text of the smart object layer to remove the "rock texture" layer selection.
Step 7
Use the burn tool to deepen some of the shadows on the "rock texture" layer.
Step 8
Select the Dune layer, select the Clone Stamp tool, press and hold the selection key (ALT), and click somewhere on the sandy soil. Then create a new layer on top of the "rock texture", named "More Sand" (more sandy soil), and copy the sand onto this layer.
Step 9 to improve the texture effect, remove the local area of the rock texture layer. Step 10 Now we're going to add some dirt. Once again, open the replacement texture file. Paste this into a new layer. Go to the filter twist replacement, look for MAP.PSD, set the horizontal and vertical values are 50. Then choose
Step 9
To increase the texture effect, delete the local area of the rock texture layer.
Step 10
Now we're going to add some "dirt". Once again, open the Replace texture file. Paste this into a new layer. Go to filter > Twist > Replace, look for "MAP.PSD", set the horizontal and vertical values are 50. Then select All (Ctrl + A or Command + a) to copy the selection. This step looks familiar to you ~ reference Step 5, the following steps are the same ~)
Step 11
Paste "Clay texture" into a new layer. Press CTRL + Click the thumbnail of the smart object to select the text shape, and then press CTRL (command) + Shift +i, and then click the DEL (remove) extra texture (on the "clay texture").
Use a soft eraser to erase the bottom of the "dirt" layer and then use an irregular eraser to perfect the image.
Step 12
Change the "clay texture" blending mode to multiply the bottom and add a small shadow effect.
Step 13 Add some grass to replace the texture document by pasting the image. Apply the displacement map and implement it as you would any other material (see Step 5 and step 10) and finally replicate the meadow. Step 14 Paste the lawn in the main document, remove the bottom of the lawn, and remove some edges with an irregular eraser. Steps
Step 13
Add some grass and go to the "replace texture" document to paste the image. Apply the displacement map and implement it as you would any other material (see Step 5 and step 10) and finally replicate the meadow.
Step 14
Paste the lawn in the main document, remove the bottom of the lawn, and remove some edges with an irregular eraser.
Step 15
Deepen the shadow on the meadow texture layer.
Step 16
Add a small amount of shading to the meadow texture layer. Use sponge tools to reduce the saturation of some areas of the grassland.
Step 17
Paste the lawn texture onto a new layer and use vanishing point (go to filter > Vanishing point) in the Filter window to match the visibility of the landscape.
Step 18 randomly scrub some areas of the map layer, which can be achieved with an irregular brush. Step 19 Select a portion of the grass, feather the selection, and adjust the tonal value to-30. Step 20 finally add a soft shadow to the meadow layer. Step 21 lets us add more details. Paste this picture
Step 18
Randomly erase some areas of the "grass" layer, which can be implemented with an irregular brush.
Step 19
Select a portion of the grass, feather the selection, and adjust the tonal value to-30.
Step 20
Finally, add a soft shadow to the meadow layer.
Step 21
Let's add more details. Paste this image into a new layer, and adjust the hue/saturation value to match the existing color. You can name this layer "hanging plant" or other similar salutation.
Step 22
Use an irregular eraser to remove all but the hanging plants and place them next to the three-dimensional text corner (see photo).
Step 23
Copy the "Hanging plant" layer to edit > Transform > Flip horizontally. Then slightly distort the copy. Use the burn tool to make the copy darker.
Step 24
Add some more details to your idea. I have added more hanging plants and shrubs.
Step 25
To create a more compelling effect (make the image more realistic), use both of the adjustment layers throughout the design: Photo filters and gradient maps (35% transparency).
OK finish! The final effect is here. You can go back to the top to see the picture (SORRY to save space).
