As shown in the following figure.

1. Document creation

First, create a new file in Photoshop. I use a small size for 300x300 pixels, the default resolution (72), which may be a good idea if you want to make a larger icon after resizing.

You may want to add a nice, simple background. Now, just use the light gradient background.

2. Enable grid/Create graphics

Now, let's start the gem shape. First, you need to make the grid (View > Show > "Grid") in the Photoshop menu, then go to edit > preferences ">" guides, grids and slices, and change the grid size to 10 pixels.

In the Enable grid, locate and obtain the Polygon Lasso tool, and then use it to make the following shapes:

Create a new layer and fill it with a color gem shape selection.

Note: At this time, color is not important.

3. Metal border effect (gradient)

Now, you need to divide your gems into several different parts. To do this, you can follow these simple steps:

Use the Rectangular marquee tool to select right click Selection (the Selection tool is still active), and then go to the cut layer by repeating until you have your shape split into different layers as shown in the following illustration

So if you have all the different parts at different levels, everything you do is right.

Right-click the first layer and go to the blending option. After doing so, apply this gradient overlay layer style. Repeat each layer unless you will need to change the gradient of each angle.

In the following picture, I have written what angle is used in the gradient.

Now it's time for your layers to move together and merge them (Ctrl + E)

To complete this step, leave me with a simple shaded layer style to give me the leftover layer.

4. Inner Mongolia Gem shape

Create a new layer. Now select the previous layers to merge (hold down the CTRL key and click the layer thumbnail), and then shrink the 3-4 pixel selection (select > Modify > Shrink).

After making a selection, you can fill in a gradient (preferably red) and I use the #f80000 #940404的渐变.

I make my radial gradient from the bottom corner of the top middle area.

After doing all this, you can add an inner shadow layer style touch.

5. Add more contact points

Use the gradient tool to make the top right of the gem in Red (#F80000) to a transparent gradient.

Again, select your main gem layer and then shrink the selection to create a new layer, then a white to transparent gradient, from the upper left corner to select about 2 pixels from the middle region.

The opacity of this shining layer is reduced to about 15% to 30%.

6. Finished

I finished the custom shape of this pass to add a random object to Photoshop and also make some smaller versions.

By merging all the layers and then resizing them (CTRL + T), you can do some smaller versions.
