In this tutorial, I'll show you my steps to create black and white abstracts in photoshop text effects. The focus of this tutorial is on using layer mask technology, plus some interesting painting skills.
First look at the tutorial material: abstract style of the WordArt PS tutorial material
This is the final effect of a preview
Step 1
Create a new Document size 720 * 960 px, add a gradient fill layer with a light gray gradient gradient:
Use the cloud brush to draw some clouds on another layer, mainly on the edge: (Do not set opacity too high, a subtle effect)
Repeat this cloud once, compress it through the free Transform tool, remove the edge with a soft eraser--this will be some basic structural form:
Step 2
Using the fonts you downloaded, enter the center of a letter canvas:
Now, add a layer mask text layer-combine the use of hard power and soft eraser to create some abstract patterns on the mask:
This step may be a bit tricky. You don't need to create a pattern with me, but the practice of using a soft, hard brush is important and you may benefit in the future.
This is the effect of shielding:
Draw some shadows under the text through a soft brush, using a free conversion tool to compress it down:
Creates a new layer of text below. We can use the soil brush you download some dirt structure text: (first reduce the brush size)
Also draw some dirt in the upper-left corner of the text:
Also use the text behind the smoke brush to paint some smoke:
This is the effect so far:
Step 3
Now we can draw some lines in the text. Let's take the 3 px brush First:
Now if you hold down the SHIFT key and draw at the same time, you will find that you can draw a vertical (or horizontal line) in this way:
Now hold the SHIFT key and start drawing some random vertical lines: (You can brush, but I'd rather you go through this painting process manually)
Copy this layer, resize smaller, rotate 45 degrees to the right, and place the center of its text:
This is the effect so far:
Step 4
Load selected text in Layerpalette Ctrl + left mouse button click thumbnail:
