Photoshop produces rounded, translucent strokes of crystal characters

The effect in the tutorial is to separate the text from the stroke. The text part uses several layers overlay to obtain the relatively smooth crystal effect; the stroke section first strokes the text, turns it into a smart object or normal layer, and then sets the layer style so that the effect is satisfactory. Final effect

1, create a 770 x 490px new document. Sets the foreground color to #3f797d and the background color to #80b2bb. Select the Gradient tool and click the linear gradient icon in the options bar. Then drag from the bottom of the document to the top of it to create a gradient background. Then convert to smart Filter.

2, double click on the Smart object background layer, apply pattern overlay effect, make the following settings: Blending mode: soft light; pattern: concrete wall.

3, with Alba font to create a black, size of 120pt text.
