Photoshop Simulation Example: Vintage wooden pen Dip pen

Today we use PhotoshopTo draw a simulation example: a beautiful vintage wooden pen dipped in the fountain pen. A white cylindrical metal product resembling a nib can be made with an undertone-highlight (white)-reflective (black).

1. Create a new 400*600 file in Photoshop .


2. Use the pen to check out the outside shape of the pen, according to Ctrl+enter into the selection , with RGB(120,116,138) for filling.

3. Then use the pen to sketch out the Middle Hollow section (be sure to save the path), press Ctrl+enter into the selection, the pen center hollowed out. Note that in the steps below, if you have GaussFuzzy, it is best to use the shape of the pen cut to avoid white out of bounds.

4. Create a new layer, fill in the white after the selection, remove the selection, Gaussian Blur 2 pixels, and then blur the side again with the Blur tool.

5. Create a layer, in the following figure position to do the high light, the process is the same as 4.

6. Create a new layer, get the following selection, fill with white to transparent gradient, Gaussian blur 0.5.

7. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, fill the white to transparent gradient from the bottom up, Gaussian blur 5 pixels, and remember to remove the center of the heart.

8. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, fill the black, make a projection for the layer, set the default setting, the angle is-25, the distance is 2 pixels. Set the opacity of this layer to 75%.

9. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, fill the white to the transparent gradient from right to left, and set the opacity of the layer to 40%.

10. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, fill the black, and set the opacity of the layer to 10%.

11. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, fill it with white to transparent gradient, and blur the lower end.

12. Draw the drawing line of the front end of the pen, the Pen tool sketch out the lines, and use the Black 1 pixel brush to trace. Then do the outer glow, lowering the layer "padding" to 20%.

13. Return 2 of the made pen layer, with a burn tool, deepen in the pen head.

14. Copy 2 of the pen layer, the following layer using " image "-"adjust"-"brightness/contrast", reduce brightness to-100, move down 1 pixels, move to the right 2 pixels. Make a selection as shown, and remove the extra parts.

15. Extract 3 steps to make the path, with a white 1 like a sketch edge. Move 1 pixels to the left to reduce the opacity 50%.

At this point you can merge all the layers except the white background and start the pen below.
Draw the pen

16. Create a new layer, sketch the shape, and from right to left fill the foreground color rgb (170,75,67) to the background color RGB (63,32,46) gradient.

17. Create a new layer, change the foreground color to white, fill the layer, and keep the background color unchanged. Using the filter-render-"fiber" (the newly added filter in CS), the difference is 44, and the strength is 64. Press ALT to click it with the 16-step layer of the raphe, grouping it. Rotate the layer so that the wood grain is in the same direction as the pen.

18. Select "Filter"-"liquefaction", pay attention to the right side of the display background selection, and then use the fold tool, large brush, will be the pen part of the contraction, using the forward deformation tool, the two sides of the pen to the middle of the texture push to make stereo effect. Then change the picture blending mode to "multiply".

19. Create a new layer in the middle of the pen and wood grain and use the RGB (206,154,111) brush to make the wood color of the pen head.

20. Create a new layer under the nib, then make an oval shape, fill in the yellow color of the previous step, and then deepen the interior with the burn tool.

22. Close the background layer, merge all the visible layers, get a pen, shadow get the real deal. Note that when the pen is flat on the table, the nib and nib are far from the desktop, so the shadows are shallow.
