Photoshop provides us with a powerful selection tool, and mastering the selection tool will bring great convenience to your image processing.

Selection Tool

The selection tool includes a mask tool, a lasso tool, and a magic wand tool (shown in Figure 5-1). When selected, the area is represented by a black-and-white line that rotates clockwise. The selection area is the range that is used for editing. All command detachment the selection area is valid and is not valid for selection. I'll explain the powerful selection tool for Photoshop, respectively.

Rectangle and Ellipse selection tool

The rectangle mask button is used to pull the rectangular marquee over the layer with the mouse. As shown in Figure 5-4, first click, the mouse on the layer into a + font, drag the mouse to draw a rectangle in the image. The lines in the selected area become highlighted dashes. You can further perform additional operations on the selected area.

Rectangle Mask Tool The taskbar is divided into three parts: modification, feathering and anti-aliasing, style. As shown in Figure 5-5.

Note: The modification method is divided into four kinds:

(1) Normal selection-remove the old area and select a new area.

(2) Add selection--on the basis of the old selection area, add the new selection area and form the final selection area.

(3) minus selection--in the old selection area, subtract the part that intersects the new selection with the old selection, forming the final selection area. (as shown in Figure 5-8~ figure 5-10)

Feathering eliminates the normal hard-changing boundaries of the selection to soften it, which means that the boundary produces a transition segment (as shown in Figure 5-15), which is 2-255pixels between the values.

A style is used to specify the shape of a rectangular marquee that is pulled. There are 3 options in the Style Drop-down menu, respectively:

1 Normal-The default selection method, is also most commonly used. You can pull any rectangle with your mouse.

2) constraint aspect ratio--can arbitrarily set the width-height ratio of the rectangle. Just enter the appropriate number in. The default value is 1:1.

3 Fixed size: In this way, you can accurately determine the size of the rectangle by entering a wide and high number of values. Enter in, the system defaults to 64x64px.

The Oval Mask button is the same as the rectangle mask (as shown in Figure 5-20), and it can only be done by a rectangular operation. The area selected by shift+ is a circular region.

If you want to choose a graphic that is irregular, a non rectangular mask and an elliptical mask can do this, you can use the Photoshop6.0 Lasso tool, which depicts the selection of irregular shapes in freehand form (as shown in Figure 5-21). The Lasso Options panel is shown in Figure 5-22.

If the selected curve end point and start point do not coincide, the photoshop6.0 is automatically closed to the complete curve. When you press the ALT key while dragging the mouse, you can also form arbitrary curves, which are connected in a straight line by clicking on the start and end points.

Hold down the DELETE key to clear the most recently drawn segment, and then release the DELETE key until the desired portion is left.

Multilateral lasso Kits

A multilateral lasso tool that can be selected to remove irregular multilateral graphics from the image. Click the mouse over the image point, and then click each Luodian to determine each line. When you return to the starting point, a small circle appears under the cursor, indicating that the selection is closed, and then clicking the mouse completes the operation (as shown in Figure 5-24). The DELETE key and the ALT key operate like a lasso. The taskbar of the multilateral lasso (shown in Figure 5-25) is the same, and is no longer introduced here.

Magnetic cable Sleeve

Magnetic Lasso is a kind of lasso tool with recognizable edge. You can choose a graphic that is irregular but has a large contrast between the graphic color and the background color in the image. Select the button and the taskbar also displays the options for the magnetic lasso tool as appropriate. As shown in Figure 5-28, the lasso is somewhat different from the above lasso, which is used to set the magnetic Lasso tool to detect the distance when selecting, and to establish the connection frequency of the lasso connection point when the cable is selected. Mouse over the image click to select a starting point, and then move the mouse along the edge of the graphic (as shown in Figure 5-29), without holding down the mouse, and returning to the starting point, a small circle appears in the lower-right corner of the mouse, indicating that the area is closed, and that the mouse click is The DELETE key and the ALT key operate like a lasso.

Magic Wand

Magic Wand is a magical tool for selection. Can be used to select areas of similar color in the image (shown in Figure 5-31), when you click a point with a magic wand, the area similar to the color and similar to the point will be selected, in some cases can save a lot of energy to achieve the desired results. By setting the magic wand of the character panel, you can control the similarity of its color.

The Magic Wand's taskbar (shown in Figure 5-33) includes selection methods, feathering and anti-aliasing, tolerances, and applying all layers. Tolerance is used to control the range of color errors. The larger the value, the wider the selection area. The value range is between 0~255 and the system defaults to 32. Figure 5-34 and figure 5-35 are graphs of the difference in tolerance values.

When you work with selection areas, you can edit only the parts of the selection, regardless of what you do with the selected area. This part is the only content that has been activated on the print cloth. In turn, after the selection is established, the desired action can be performed on the above. However, if you want to go to another area, you must first cancel the selection area. Deselect a region just use any of the marquee tools to click anywhere outside the selection, or press the DELETE key to cancel. You can edit only in the selection area before canceling.

Cut, copy, and paste

Execute or command, you can cut or copy the selection on the operating layer, at this point, Photoshop automatically copies the selection on the action layer to the area named Clipboard in the computer's village, and then executes the command, copying the contents of the Clipboard into the current working file and putting it on a new layer. The photo of the image of his own idol is done in this way.

The following example illustrates:

Cutting

Tailoring is the term of a painter, which is the superfluous part of a painting or picture, which can be regarded as a special selection tool. In Photoshop6, Adobe has made significant improvements to the cropping tool. When cropping, you can see that the part that has been cropped is dimmed, so that it's easy to see what you're doing.

The specific steps of the cropping method are as follows:

1) Select the Cropping tool.

2 Determine the attributes of the number cropping tool in the taskbar (as shown in Figure 5-54).

Select the taskbar to remove and cut the image. The so-called elimination of shearing is cut when the layer and cotton cloth are cut at the same time. You can hide and cut the image by selecting it in the taskbar. That is, when the cut is only to cut the canvas, the face layer has no effect, as the strike layer redundant hidden. is used to set the size and resolution of the trimmed image. Enter the value of the width and height you want in and after, and then enter a value for the resolution so that the clipped image will automatically generate the size you set. Points in the taskbar will clear all settings.

3.4 Moving

You can use the Move tool to select, transform, arrange, and distribute layers. Its taskbar is shown in Figure 5-65.
