EAccelerator can be accelerated, but it is very effective in processing complex code acceleration.
5.2 remember that data caching is supported, while 5.3 later only accelerates PHP processing.
Laruence of sina has always recommended the apc accelerator (he is responsible for the php extension after all)
There is another xcache. I haven't studied it yet...
