Point of View: Microsoft started the virtualization publicity flash war

Microsoft is working hard to make the "virtualization launch" ceremony in September 8 even more exciting. Because Virtualization has never been under Microsoft's control, and Microsoft's own regulatory programs are not in the market, this makes it hard to understand why Microsoft wants to restart virtualization.

The most important news in Microsoft's virtualization launch activities is Hyper-V (apparently not fully publicized, even if it has been released) and virtual machine management tool (VMM) 2008, the latter is an important part of Microsoft virtualization.

Now, remember the VMware VMworld conference, which will be held next week. This will be a good opportunity for VMware to respond to Microsoft's different comparative ROI analysis and give a picture of why its virtualization is better than Microsoft's.

As Microsoft is constantly trying to attract people's attention, people will not be interested in the coverage of VMware virtualization. However, the question is whether Microsoft's content is worth the time and everyone's attention.

In general, the answer is yes. Microsoft's virtualization software cannot be compared with VMware, as most experts have mentioned. However, this gap is close, just as the main Microsoft products are expected in the development stage.

Microsoft does not yet have the core of virtualization, especially in the released regulatory procedures. Even if an interview with Microsoft's senior executives, either individually or semi-exclusive, is being conducted with Kevin Turner and Bor Muglia, Microsoft cannot ensure that the entire VMworld is affected.

Therefore, Microsoft has expanded its virtualization impact. The event materials it posted and the articles published to the press all point out that the company is designing new products to build virtualized infrastructure, from data centers to desktops. "These are very easy to manage, just like the infrastructure on the physical machine you have used ."

In addition to Hyper-V and Virtual Machine manager 2008, Microsoft also talked about the desktop and application virtualization suite, not called App-V. Mary Jo Foley, an experienced Microsoft observer, wrote in All About Microsoft's Bock that it named Microsoft's desktop and application virtualization. I'm sure this alias is a very clever Microsoft sign since countless repeated, stupid aliases are given and long without innovative names.

Microsoft also talked about Microsoft's enterprise desktop virtualization tool (MED-V), which was designed to make the deployment of virtualized PC images on Windows machines independent of the desktop operating system itself.

Foley said that both MED-V and App-V will be provided in Microsoft's desktop optimization package, requiring software to ensure copyright.

Be sure to understand the fact that Microsoft has announced almost nothing new. All App-V and MED-V are repackaging products acquired from other companies, and Microsoft has no time to package them and treat them as full Microsoft products.

The conference in September 8 gave Microsoft a chance to elaborate on its virtualization strategy and describe its links, copyrights, and support.

However, more important information will be the practice of beta testers. They work on Microsoft's virtualization products and learn how to identify their defects.

Microsoft's PR is likely to teach customers step by step how to build a Microsoft-centric virtualization infrastructure.

This is not good news for companies or IT managers opposed to using Microsoft virtualization products. However, very few companies classify products.

However, if your company focuses on VMware or Xen, Microsoft's tools will be cheaper and easier to use in such companies.

Do not mislead you with the content advertised two weeks later, so that you think that Microsoft's virtualization tool is so effective and so popular that it is better than you think.

This may not be the case. Most of the technologies announced by Microsoft will only be listed in the first half of next year. In addition, some available technologies may not meet the company's characteristics or the company's quality requirements. Microsoft's market is striving for these technologies.

At the same time, this does not mean that some information is worthless, but it is exaggerated. Keep track of this message and we will help you sort out this information.
