Oracle 10g server and client installedProgramAnd create a database instance orcl.
Installation: 1. Install ArcSDE 9.2 for Oracle 10g by default. 2. perform post installation. Step 1 select complete for installation. In the dialog box that appears in step 2, the Sys user name and net service name are automatically filled in. In this case, the net service name is automatically set to my machine name. Enter sys user password. After the above operation is complete, click Next, the system will pop up the following dialog box, prompt: Error connecting to Oracle: ORA-12514: TNS: The Listener is unable to identify the Service requested in the connection descriptor. Then I had to click the OK button, and then the following dialog box pops up with the prompt: connecting to Oracle: ORA-12514: TNS: The Listener currently cannot recognize that the Service requested in the connection descriptor contains an invalid path. Click "OK" again and return to the dialog box in step 2, so you have to cancel the configuration.
Solution:
Check the server name in Oracle's net mananger (orcl by default), and change the net service name to orcl.
