September 1, 2016, the PostgreSQL global development team announced the PostgreSQL9.6 first RC candidate release for download. This RC version contains the new features that will be included in the final version of 9.6, as well as patches for the issues found in the first four beta versions. We encourage our users to test their applications in the new RC version.
Updates since Beta 4
PostgreSQL 9.6 RC 1 contains fixes for all the issues found during Beta 4 testing:
To add an SQL function to check for index access
Fixed several bugs in Bloom index
Add a regression test sample for a toast insert bug
Resolve a bug that causes non-English locales to be handled in a parallel query
Document Updates
RC1 in postgresql.conf will disable parallel queries by default (basic tutorial Qkxue.net), users who want to enable parallelized queries need to set Max_parallel_workers_per_gather greater than 0
New Release Schedule
This is the first RC version of the 9.6 release, and the PostgreSQL project team will also post an additional RC version based on the test situation until all the feedback questions have been resolved before releasing the official version (Tengyun technology ty300.com).
