First step: Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel

Reverse Oracle

PowerDesigner provides reverse engineering, allowing the existing database to be transformed into a database physical model, and then the physical model to derive a conceptual model of the database (E-r model), the database used here is oracle10g, and the steps to extract the database physical model using reverse engineering are as follows:

1. Open PD, the menu operation order is File>>reverse engineer>>database ..., which means reverse engineering from the database, here are the options: Process Language, Object Language, XML Definition ... Three.

2. Select Database ... option, on the pop-up tab of the DBMS, select Oracle Version 10g,share the DBMS definition.

3. Select a data source: Using an ODBC datasource, from which you select a configured data source. If the data source is not configured, then use the Add button to configure a system data source name (DSN) and enter the user name and password to connect to the data source, and then enter the reverse engineering interface.

4. The reverse engineering interface has user filtering, select all, deselect all, option Front, option back, filter conditions and other operational options, underneath the database has a variety of objects, such as tables, views, synonyms, users, roles, abstract data types, indexes, triggers, procedures, table space ... Wait a minute.

5. After selecting the object to reverse engineering, click OK to complete the reverse engineering of the database to the physical model.

6. Convert the physical model to a conceptual model: Open the physical model Diagram and select Tools generate conceptual Data model ... menu options, you can complete the transformation of the physical model to the conceptual model.

Details to be aware of:

1. Configure Data Source: "Unable to load the Oracle in Oradb10g_home2 ODBC driver installation routine because of a system error code 127" Error when configuring an Oracle data source because of a problem with setting the database environment variable. After the X:/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin path is configured in the path of the environment variable, the DSN can be re-established to successfully configure the data source.
