The dot command lets us repeat the last change. It's the most powerful and versatile command in Vim.
. command to repeat the last action on a text change.
A first example


xcommand to delete the character under the current cursor, and then . the command repeats the action above (delete the current character)

A second example

ddcommand to delete the current line, the . command repeats the above action

A third example

>Gcommand to increase the indentation of the current line, the command j lets the current cursor move the next line, the command . repeats the >G command.
