Precautions for configuring IPv6 in Windows 7

IPv6 has quietly come to our side. Windows 7 has started to support IPv6, but Windows 7 has not yet understood it, now, when I add an IPv6 package, the user will be confused. Next we will introduce how to configure IPv6 in Windows 7.

I. Initial problems:

Some schools update their internal network addresses to IPv6. therefore, it is often necessary to determine the IPv6 address to access the site. however, I have recently noticed that some internal school sites that can be normally logged on have failed to be accessed. Statistics show that these sites are equipped with IPv6 addresses.

Ii. Think about troubleshooting:

Your own machine is a t400 notebook, and the device is a genuine Windows 7 ultimate Operating System. in order to better locate the problem source, I decided on other machines, especially the machines installed with the XP system, to visit the above site and noticed that there was no doubt. it seems that the fault is caused by the configuration of Windows 7.

(1) Configure IPv6 parameters from the menu:

Next, we will discuss how to find and handle the network search. We will first start with IPv6 Configuration. The detailed steps are as follows.

Step 1: Right-click the "network" icon on the desktop and select Properties to enter the network sharing center. Click to enter the local connection.

Step 2: configure the Local Connection Properties, find the internet Protocol version 6 (tcp/IPv6) option, and double-click it to open a new window to execute the configuration.

Step 3: Fill in the IPv6 parameter information in the local network in accordance with the principle, because it involves sensitive information such as the network IP address segment, it is not detailed here.

(2) Configure IPv6 parameters from the command:

After the end of the configuration, the problem persists, and the local computer still cannot smoothly access the IPv6 Site of the internal network. Other XP system computers do not have this question. The command line is used again to configure IPv6 address information. The detailed steps are as follows.

Step 1: Enter cmd in operation, and right-click the command prompt to select "Run as Administrator )", open the command line window and enter netsh to execute Nic parameter configuration.

Step 2: Enter the following commands in sequence to enable our IPv6 Configuration.

Netsh> int

Netsh> interface> IPv6

Netsh> interface> IPv6> isatap

Netsh> interface> IPv6> isatap> set router xxxxxxx

(Replace xxxxxx with the IPv6 route address of the local network)

Netsh> interface> IPv6> isatap> set state enabled netsh> interface> IPv6> isatap> quit

(3) Configure IPv6 from the service:

After the end of the configuration, the attempt to access the Internet again failed to solve the problem. It seems that the two methods do not help to correct the IPv6 attribute. the problem persists after the correct host file is copied on the Internet. it seems that there are no questions about IPv6 configurations, and we will continue to look for answers to the questions from the system. at this moment, I thought that when I used the XP system, the netshare service was disabled and the printer could not be shared. So I had to make a fuss about it from the "service. in the prompt window, enter services. msc enters the "service" option window.

Compared to Windows 7 and Windows XP services in sequence, we finally noticed a service called ip helper, which was explained as "IPv6 conversion technology, if the service is terminated, the computer will not have the enhanced connectivity advantage provided by these technologies ", but the ip helper Service in Windows 7 is not in the startup mode, after the service is started, there is no doubt about accessing those IPv6 education sites again. Next, configure the Service Startup Mode to automatic, restart the Windows 7 operating system, and then handle the problem on Thursday.

Iii. Summary:

In Windows 7, the service named ip helper serves as the primary tool for IPv6 address analysis and access. It corresponds to the IPv6 helper Service in Windows XP, if we do not use IPv6 for access, we can disable the above services. If you want to use IPv6, you must open it, in this troubleshooting example, IPv6 Website access is caused by an invalid or unexpected shutdown of the ip helper Service in Windows 7. We look forward to your understanding of the new services in the Windows 7 operating system by it168 readers. If you have any questions, you can quickly locate them.
