Pricing and license for Microsoft BizTalk Server in the BizTalk series () [interpretation]

Of course, to ensure the most abundant functions and performance, we recommend that you purchase the most advanced version.

Today we will talk about the pricing and license of Microsoft BizTalk Server, because I have not made any sales, I just obtained some pricing and approval materials from Microsoft official team to learn from them. First, I declare that this article is my personal opinion. Explanation: The Enterprise Edition is the highest version of BizTalk Server. BizTalk Server 2006 R2 Enterprise Edition (ENT) is designed to provide enterprise-level high-capacity, high-reliability and high-availability software for customers. Explanation: Biztalk Server 2006 Standard Edition (STD) is designed to meet the needs of medium-scale business capacity and deployment. The prices of the Standard Edition and the Enterprise Edition are relatively different. As a server product, the price is quite good. Of course, there will be some functional restrictions after the price is reduced. There are several points that may not be easy to understand. The following is an explanation: 1. Five "Applications" are allowed" The concept of BizTalk applications is somewhat like that of IIS websites. A single server solution does not support high-performance solutions: Disaster Tolerance and distributed processing are not supported. In the production environment, you must purchase a valid processor license for the Enterprise Edition, Standard Edition, or branch edition of BizTalk Server 2006 R2.

Explanation: For developers who need a user license, this user license is calculated by person. Like SQL Server Enterprise Edition and BizTalk Enterprise Edition, you can create unlimited instances. Though not mentioned in the Standard Edition, all BizTalk products should belong to licensing for per processor product.

 

3. How is the software license calculated in a virtual environment?

Today, with licensing for per processor products like Microsoft®SQL Server®2008 Enterprise andMicrosoft Biztalk®Server 2006 R2 Enterprise Edition, You can run unlimited software instances in physical operating system environments (OSES), virtual OSes, or both on your individual servers by counting all of each server's physical processors and assigning it that number of licenses. with the new rules, as an alternative to simply counting all of a server's physical processors and assigning that number of licenses, you may count the number of the server's physical processors that support OSes in which server software instances are running at any one time, and assign that number of licenses. this applies both to physical processors being used by physical OSes in which instances are running and to physical processors supporting virtual OSes in which instances are running. the waiver of the short-term reassignment rule then allows you want to move the licenses as your workloads fluctuate or move against SS servers, and different physical processors support OSes in which instances of the software are running on different servers. from: Application Server license mobility NOVEMBER 2008

Microsoft will calculate the cost of software products based on the actual number of virtual computers on the server, rather than the number of processors contained in the server, allows users to apply the license from one machine to another.
