Problem data query results for HTML tag Select are displayed in the drop-down menu

The HTML Select drop-down menu has its own manually added menu, such as
Value 1 Value 2 Value 3

Now I query the results from the database is 2, how to make the page display, the drop-down menu automatically locked in the "Value 2"?

PHP code?12345ManWomen have quotes around the string, no quotation marks have become a variable (JS) So, to JS this part of the understanding is really not much. Thank you for your advice 
