For target devices, we can simply understand that a basic computer used to build the hard disk image will be stored on the virtual disk. After the image is built, Provisioning Services pushes the virtual disk content created from the master target device to other target devices through streaming technology. Therefore, in the actual work, we will be based on the operating system and application software usage, the preparation of multiple target devices, and then through the image operation to build multiple virtual disks for users to use.

Prepare the master target device for image.

In this learning environment, I have two virtual machines, Clt2012 and Clt2008, one installed Windows R2, one installed in Windows Server R2.

Remove the default NIC for the virtual machine and add the old NIC adapter (this is because the target setting is required to boot from PXE when the image operation)

Install the operating system, set the IP address to get automatically, join the computer to the domain, and turn off the firewall.

Install target device Software

Select the target device installation in. Because the installation process is very simple, there are not many places to set up, so the installation process is slightly.

To create a new virtual disk using the Image Wizard

You can automatically create an underlying vdisk image from the target device using the Image Wizard.

Required conditions

Enable the Windows auto-mount feature on the Windows Server operating system.

Disables the Windows auto-play feature.

Verify that there is enough free space in the virtual disk storage, approximately 101% of the space occupied by the source volume.

Note the NIC that the master target device binds to when the Provisioning Services software is installed on the target device (when there are multiple network adapters). This information needs to be used during the imaging process.

Note: If the system displays a request to reboot the Windows message before the imaging process is complete, ignore this request until the imaging process has completed successfully.

Run Image wizard:

Enter the provisioning Services site server name or IP address

If you set up a virtual disk in the PVS management console, you can choose to recreate the existing virtual disk. The purpose of this is to increase the efficiency of the image virtual disk.

Enter the target device name in (not the same as the computer name); Select a network connection (for multiple network cards, select and PVs-connected NICs);

Enter the collection name: for clients, PVS uses collections for centralized management. In actual work, we may set up different sets according to the operating system, application software and other factors required by different computers.
