Step 1

Collect a piece of cardboard or other type of paper, but make sure it keeps the coffee stains on top without wrinkling. A small brush or a small sponge helps to control the liquid. The key element is a cup of coffee, the deeper the coffee concentration the better.

Step 2

Put the coffee cup on the cardboard and gently rub some on the bottom edge of the cup, which is better than coffee accidentally out of the cup control.

Step 3

Move the coffee cup and use different amounts of coffee to control the different thicknesses of the coffee ring. Create more coffee rings.

Step 4

Create different styles for rings: let some overlap, create only part of the ring, some have splash, some don't. They are easy to create quickly, so don't confine yourself to a single halo, add some variety of rings.

Step 5

Put the paper in the dry air. Do not use heat sources or hair dryers, they will move liquids, destroying natural mode. You can carefully dip the coffee liquid with the corner of the paper towel, the paper towel will quickly absorb the excess liquid and will not spread on the paper.

Step 1

If you choose an inappropriate card to scan, cut it into an individual loop and scan a small area. Otherwise the uneven surface will make your scan lighting abnormal. The scanning ring is at least the highest quality image at DPI.

Step 2

Use PS to open the scanned image. Use the Polygon Lasso tool (L) to select a selection.

Step 3

Copy the new layer of the coffee ring through layer > New > by duplicating the Layer (CONTROL+J). Then go to the image > Adjust > Go Color (control+shift+u). PS can only use grayscale information to create a brush, so it is best to think that it does not have any color information.

Step 4

Click image > Adjust > Level (control+l) to adjust horizontally. Move the white slider to the right edge of the histogram. Then move the black slider to the right to the maximum white area. This will greatly improve the contrast of the coffee ring.

Step 5

Hides the background layer. Then look for stray coffee rings that have inadvertently been selected. Use the Brush tool (B) to fill them with white.

Step 6

You need a custom brush, hold down the CTRL key, click on the thumbnail of the layer to create a selection. Click on the Edit > Custom brush preset to give a name to your coffee ring brush.

Step 7

If your brush tool is still selected, it will select the newly defined brush by default. If not, you can find it by window > Brush Preset panel. The newly defined brush will be at the bottom of the list.

Step 8

Brushes are like any other brushes in PS, you can control size, transparency, angle, blending mode, color, and so on. A custom brush is more like a postmark, just click Apply.
