PS CC 2015 new feature artboard tool

The artboard is one of the new features of Photoshop CC 2015. If you are familiar with Adobe Illustrator, you may know how to use artboards to improve design operations. For large design management and output of a variety of files, the artboard can be said to be a useful tool. Whether you are familiar with the new PS palette or not, this issue of foreign fine translation tutorials will show you how to use the artboard.

Artboards are widely used. The PS tutorial will not show you how to make very special works with Artboards, but it will teach you how to use this new tool effectively. This tutorial will explain the business card design, and you can follow the tutorials step-by-step, or apply the technical principles of the tutorials to the actual work. To be reminded, the artboard is currently only available at Photoshop CC 2015.

Step 1

First, you can choose to create a new artboard or convert an existing PSD file to an artboard. Because the material provided by the tutorial is a PSD file, it needs to be converted to an artboard.

Open the downloaded tutorial material, and then select the Artboard tool. Press "V" to select the Move tool, then "Shift+v" to the artboard or to the icon for the Move tool, and select "Artboard" in the Drop-down menu. The operation is shown in the following figure.

When you have selected the Artboard tool, pull out the marquee and select the footage that is displayed on the artboard. You can select the entire or part of the material, where the range of selection is best not to exceed the material itself.

The artboard has been created from the previous operation, and the entire interface is slightly different, you can see a label on the canvas, and the selected area is named "Artboard 1" on the layers panel. As shown in the following illustration, this is just the action on the artboard.

To facilitate design management, you need to rename the artboard. In the Layers panel, double-click the Small icon for "Artboard 1" and rename it to "stencil".

The following need to add front and back designs for your business cards. Because of the more specific requirements of business card design, add two artboards here to make the design details better. Select Layer > New > Storyboard in the main menu bar.

Name the newly added artboard as "front", which is typically 3.5 inches x2 in size and is 300dpi in resolution due to printing needs. If you apply the above requirements, the artboard is set to 1050 pixel x600 pixels. Set as shown in the following figure.

When you create a new artboard, the artboard tool is automatically selected. With the artboard tool, you can drag or adjust the artboard the same way you do with the Move tool. Drag the new artboard to a place that does not coincide with other patterns.

Repeat steps 5 through 7 to create a "back" artboard in the same way.

Now you can start designing your business cards by applying the artboard you just created, and you can use the material provided by the tutorial. Just drag the downloaded material to the appropriate vacancy. Adjust the material to the center of the artboard, and then enter the application. Here, you will find that the material will adjust to the size of the artboard automatically.

When you edit the templates and models, you need to export them. In the artboard, you need to export 3 separate PS files separately. In the operating state of the artboard, Photoshop exports individual artboards as image files independently. Click "File > Export > Export as".

After you complete the previous step, you will see the new artboard Export menu pop-up left is the image you want to export, and the right is the SET option. The default settings are usually OK, click the "Export" button in the lower right corner to export the image.

If you want to start the design directly from the artboard, you can select Artboards in the file type when you create a new document.

If you want to delete an already created artboard, simply select the artboard in the layers panel and drag it directly to the trash can or delete it.

The artboard can also be quickly exported to a PDF file. Just click on the "File > Export > Artboard to PDF", which will automatically create a PDF brochure, and each artboard will be included as a separate page in the brochure.
