　　What is Frequency separation?

In short, the image can be divided into high and low "Frequency", high-frequency messages include details, skin lines, hair, scars, etc. (if it should be easy to understand with high contrast), and low-frequency messages include large areas of color, hue, etc., as for FS can separate the two to edit, That is, you can improve the texture of the skin without affecting the hue, and can modify the complexion without affecting the texture, so it is more delicate to handle than a simple fix brush or blur.

　Carry out frequency separation

A series of PS steps are described here, first creating two layers to handle the high & low Frequency separately.

1 Use Photoshop (here is Photoshop CC) to open the above image.

2 Open a file named FS, and then copy the picture Layer two to go in, and then renamed to High and Low, respectively, as the treatment of details and color.

8 Add 2 and 1 blank layers to the high and low layers, and then create a clipping mask to let the layer fall from high and low. As you can see, there are blank layers named darken and lighten on top of the layer high above, and there are arrows pointing high, which means that they have become clipping masks, so we can make non-destructive changes. The following figure is demonstrating the creation of a clipping mask named "color correction" for low.
