First step

Photo review: That day is Full moon, the moonlight will shine brightly, so I use the speed ISO200, exposure 30 seconds can get very good stars, of course, bright, so did not get a good galaxy, but such a bright future illumination is very suitable for the star track.

Shooting parameters: 30 seconds f/2.8 ISO200 16mm

Shooting equipment: Canon 5D Mark III ef16-35mm f/2.8l II USM

Step Two:

Make some basic adjustments to Adobe Camera Raw. The following figure selected lens correction, do some basic adjustment after opening the file, increase exposure +0.50, increase the highlight +50, sharpness +10.

Third Step

Ctrl +n Copy or drag to a new file, next to the mask blend foreground, remember not to copy a layer. Ctrl +j copy layers, 32 64 128 256 512 layers, maximum stack does not need to control the power of 2, you set how many layers, according to your computer processing speed machine and hope to get the effect of the star track to choose. Longer and more rounded star rails require more layers. Remember to take a snapshot of the history, the second button, ready to start over.

I first choose 128 layer bar, in fact, before doing this can consider the use of brightness mask for a noise reduction, but I this film only ISO200 shot, basic or very clean, so omitted this step. Brightness masks belong to the higher-order post-processing, do not know whether you can skip directly.

Fourth Step

Open Snowman plugin, select Stack button

Parameter explanation:

Scaling refers to the scaling of each photo relative to the previous photo, and rotation refers to the angle of rotation.

The rotational radian of the star track is the number of photos (the number of layers copied) multiplied by the rotation angle that is filled in the plug-in.

such as copying 128 layers, rotating 0.25, then the star orbit actually spins the 128x0.25=32 degree

Three kinds of effects:

Only scaling is the radiation effect (meteor shower explosion)

Only rotation is a circular effect (traditional star track)

Scaling plus rotation is the spiral star rail

Fade is fading, drag the button on the left side of the slider to control, fade to the right; two changes are fading in.

Anchor coordinates: The anchor coordinates are the center point of the rotation, the x value is the horizontal axis, want to center, the picture banner Pixel is halved; Y-value is the ordinate, that is, the height of the upper and lower levels, visible need to use photo longitudinal pixel 2, 3, ÷4, etc. or a simpler method, I use the square selection tool (M) from the top left corner of the screen to I think the center of the star, when the square selection of the lower right corner of the coordinate value to set, not necessarily if the median position, You can try it at your discretion.

Drag or copy the stamped layer into the original copy file created in the first step, plus a white mask.

Back to the previously saved snapshots, it should be a copy of the 128 layers of the place. At the top level, use the Quick selection tool (W) to make a rough selection of the stars, without special refinement, to allow space in the sky and foreground.

In the PS Select menu, save the selection: Standby

Calculation of rotation angle:

Normal star orbit is 1 hours rotating 15 degrees, I this is exposure to 30 seconds of stars, then 128 x30 seconds/3600x15 = 16 degrees, then 16 degrees/128 layers =0.125

The Peninsula Snowman's plugin cannot set three digits after the decimal point, so I choose 0.13. I don't know if I'm doing this right, I just want to simulate the real star track better. So now 128 levels *0.13 = 16.64 degrees

Click on the Max button to stack.

Of course, we can still CTRL+SHITF + E merged layers, and the original material superimposed, this circular star rail if you want better results, you need to copy more layers, I have done up to 512 layers, the effect is much better.

The seventh step is the spiral star orbit effect

It is not difficult to pull out the selected selections from the Select menu, or to make a selection with the Quick selection tool (W). I want to exaggerate the effect, so use the following parameters.
