Color matching has always been a topic of great concern to everyone, each of them have their own unique color palette methods and habits. The following is a small tutorial I summed up, accurate to say is my experience of color, for this also trouble a lot of people, to their respective "secret weapon", and then summed up here. First, about "high ash"

People who paint, understand this: when you master the Ashes, you will master the essence of color.

I think photography and painting are very similar things, so the same way, when you mastered the ash, you mastered the essence of color. From the perspective of the photograph, a similar word is "gray-scale"--perhaps everyone is unfamiliar, and in terms of color, the ash is shown in the following image:

One color, in addition to Hue, has two attributes: lightness and purity. Purity is what I call the ash, the Arrows show, after the purity is reduced, the saturation of the color decreases and the whole tends to soften.

For photography, there is a similar word called "gray scale". What is gray scale? Usually, a point that people see on the LCD screen is a pixel, which is made up of three sub-pixel pixels, red, green, and Blue (RGB). Each sub-pixel, the light source behind it, can show a different level of brightness. The gray scale represents the level of the different brightness from the darkest to brightest. The more the middle level, the more exquisite the effect of the picture can be rendered.

Generally speaking, the more intact the gray level in the photos, the better the texture of the photos, the color of the photos, the more the more approaching full precipitation. At this point, there is a high level of painting is called "high ash"-seemingly simple group of colors, but contains a lot of color, after the harmonic, collocation, and achieve a harmonious and unified effect.

Second, the "high ash" applied to the color of the photos

Because the high ash is made up of a variety of colors, there is no independent color, then the photos, each color details will be maintained very complete. So, a very effective way is to look at the histogram. A full color picture, in each gamut, the histogram details should be relatively complete. The following figure:

Roughly speaking, in RGB colors, there are four elements: the percentage of red, the percentage of green, the percentage of the blue plus a few percent of the lightness. I want to express the ash, is through the red and green blue through different proportions of the harmonic formation.

It is also worth saying that such a gray tone, through the red-green and blue brightness of the proportion of changes will produce ever-changing visual effects. Such ash, so that each color will not be independent of the existence, no one color is a standout, nor a color is falling.

Then in the histogram, red, green, blue histogram in the light, the middle tone, the dark part is full. Because only in this way, can reflect the color of the harmony. Histogram, the red and green blue basic full, but there are changes, such a change in the proportion of the color of the visual changes created. So the whole picture looks saturated but the color is still full.

As pictured above, the overall color of the picture is basically unified, but there is warm and cold in the picture, there are bright and dark. Because the image of the gray is red, green and blue together to reconcile, so even if it is gray, it seems to have a very rich color in the inside.
