Basic operation of Layer 45 tips

13. To drag multiple layers between documents, you can link them first, and then use the Move tool to drag them from one document window to another.
Note: You cannot drag multiple layers from the layers palette to another document-even if they are linked, this action applies only to the movement of the selected layer.

Layer Group
17. Changing the blending mode or opacity of the layer group will affect all layers within the group, so that all layers in the group can be treated as a layer.
18. To put multiple layers into a layer group at the same time, you can now link these layers, then select "New group from layer" from the Layer Palette menu, or you can choose "Layer > New > Create Group from Layer".
Tip: You can press the ALT key when you select "Create New group from layer" so that you can ignore the dialog box and use the default name and attributes for the layer group.
19. To lock all layers in a group, such as transparency, pixel, position, and so on, select "Layer > Lock all layers in group".
Tip: Press/Key to open or close the current lock setting.
20. To release all the layers in a group, such as removing the group without deleting the layer, you can activate the layer group and press Ctrl+alt to click the "Delete" button, or press CTRL and drag the layer group to the top of the delete icon. Similarly, you can click the delete icon and select Delete Group only in the dialog box for confirmation of the result.
21. Copy a layer group that includes all the layers in it, by dragging it over the "Create new Group" button at the bottom of the Layer palette, or you can select "Copy Group" on the Layer palette menu.
22. To create a new document on a layer group, you can hold down the ALT key and drag the group to the top of the "Create new Group" icon at the bottom of the layer palette, and then, in the dialog box that appears, select New from the Document Drop-down menu.
23. To remove the bottom layer of a layer group, drag the thumbnail of the layer in the layer palette to the left.
24, to copy more than one group, first of these groups to link. Next, copy the document and use a move tool to drag the groups into the original document. You can then discard the copied document.
25. You can add a clipping path (a vector mask) or a traditional layer mask to a layer group. The group mask affects all layers within the group. It allows a given layer to have up to four masks: a layer's mask and a clipping path can be applied through a layer or group.
