@ The Phantom Princess of Parched Thlaspi Creek: In this tutorial, I will show you how to use PS to create an exquisite leather texture address book icon. The tutorial uses three tips: first, make the most of the grid and align to the grid; second, create vector shapes, take full advantage of the layers ' blending options, and finally, add subtle shadows and high light with simple blending techniques and special effects. Let's get started!
The following materials are required for this tutorial. You can download it before you start, and of course you can replace it with other materials.

One, new file, display grid
Open Ps,command/ctrl-n to create a new file. Set the parameters in the following figure, and click OK. Displays the grid (View > Display > Grid), and then snaps to the grid (View > Snap to > Grid). In the beginning, you need a 10px grid, select Edit > Preferences > Guides, grids and slices, set grid line spacing to 10px, subnet to 1, grid color to #a7a7a7. Note: You can use the command/ctrl-' shortcut key to show or hide the grid. You can also open the Info Panel (Window > info) to see the size and position of the shape you are drawing.
Second, the creation of cover and back
Step 1
Sets the foreground color to #aecef5. Select the Rounded Rectangle tool, select the shape layer mode, and set the radius to 5px. Create a rounded rectangle with an x 380px, and use alignment to the grid to simplify your work.
Step 2
Select the Rectangle tool. Hold down the ALT key to create an X 330px rectangle, as shown below.
Step 3
Select the Rounded Rectangle tool, hold down the SHIFT key, and create a rounded rectangle of x 20px, as shown below.
Step 4
Select the Rounded Rectangle tool, hold down the SHIFT key, and create an X 340px rounded rectangle, as shown below.
Step 5
Select the Rectangle tool, hold down the ALT key, and create an X 380px rectangle, as shown below.
Step 6
Double-click the vector shape layer, open the blending Options panel, add bevel and emboss to the vector shape layer, contour, inner shadow, gloss, gradient overlay, and pattern overlay, the specific parameters are as follows. Note that the cortical pattern in the material is added to the pattern overlay.
Step 7
Select the vector shape layer that you are drawing, command/ctrl-j the duplicate layer, right-click, clear the layer style, adjust the fill of the copy layer to 0%, and open the blending Options window. Add an inner shadow with the following parameters.
Step 8
Set the foreground color to #384445, select the Rounded Rectangle tool, create an X 380px vector shape, and position it as follows. Select the shape, move it below the other Vector shape layer (command/ctrl-shift-[), add strokes and inner shading to the layer, and the parameters are as follows.
Third, create a label
Step 1
Set the foreground color to #c7baac, select the Rectangle tool, and create a vector shape of x50px, which is positioned as follows, setting the blending options as follows.
Step 2
Set the foreground color to #dbcec0, select the Rectangle tool, and create a vector shape of x 50px, located below. Set the blending options as follows.
Step 3
Copy the two labels, (COMMAND/CTRL-J), and place the copied layer as follows.
Step 4
Hide the grid (View > Show > Grid). Select the Type tool (T) and add some letters to the label. Select Calibri font, size 12pt, black color (#000000). Adjusts the blending mode of the type layer to overlay. Add an outer shadow to the layer, as follows. Select all the label layers and the type layers to be grouped (command/ctrl-g). Move the group folder under the cover and back layer.
Step 5
Displays the grid (View > Display > Grid). Set the foreground color to #384445, select the Rounded Rectangle tool, and create an X 380px vector shape, as shown below. In the layers panel, hold down the Command/ctrl key, click the cover layer, get a selection, keep the selection, select the vector shape layer that you just drew X 380px, hold down the ALT key, and click the Add Layer Mask button. The effect is as follows. When finished, command/ctrl-d the selection.
Step 6
Adjusts the layer fill that was drawn in the previous step to 0%, adding the inner shadow, with the following parameters.
