Objective:

It's really a long process to fully master Photoshop's filter features. It is like a magic treasure box, the ever-changing, and we get to the point of the simple filter technique, obviously can not meet the day-to-day application of a number of unexpected complications.

In this tutorial, we will learn to use some of Photoshop's more obscure filters to create a sense of fashion neon light frame text. The so-called "obscure", which is less commonly used, of course, unless you have to explore the filter is thorough enough.

In addition, we will learn to find that a few special effects of the filter cleverly combined with the use, can render unexpected results.

  First, create text

Create a new document in PS, the document size is 900px wide, 600px High, and the resolution is 72ppi. Fills the white background with black.

Create a new text layer on the canvas and write your content body. I'm using a font called Vrinda bold, you can also use other fonts, but note the best ratio of word spacing, and text as much as possible to select Sans serif fonts. Color selection white.

At this point, select the text layer and background layer, and use the shortcut combination "Ctrl+e" to merge the two layers.

  Second, filter-ripple

Go to filter > Distort > Wave and the Properties settings panel of the Wave filter appears. In this seemingly complex operation panel, in fact, not as mysterious as it looks, we just have to try to adjust the parameters, we will see the preview in the corresponding preview box. Therefore, the parameter values I provide here only apply to this case and are for informational purposes only.

On the visual effect, I think it is better to have patchwork and to recognize the text itself. Depending on your ideal shape, you can use filter changes to make a variety of changes.

  Three, filters-fragments

Next, let's add some special effects to the text, and then we'll use another filter called fragmentation. Go to filter > Pixel > Fragment. A fragment filter is a filter that does not need to set parameters, and it has a direct and significant effect.

  Iv. Filters-Illuminating edges

At first we said we were going to do wireframe text effects, yes, this step will be used to illuminate the edge filter to convert text into wireframe. Of course, you can use other methods.

Go to filter > Styling > Illuminate edges, set the edge width to 1, edge brightness to 6, and smoothness to 1 in the parameter Setup Panel that illuminates the edge.

  V. Separating text from the background

Also came the original theme, wireframe light sense text, where we've made a wireframe, if not using filters, maybe you will toss out the lines in AI, export PNG format pictures, of course, efforts will not be wasted, which also makes you proud to have the wireframe. But...... Now with the filter, I have lost control of the wireframe.

In order to "have" the wireframe, can we think of any way to come? The purpose is to separate wireframe text from the black background. Here, my solution may be for reference.

After this layer is still selected, select (Ctrl + a) this layer, and then copy (Ctrl + C), then enter the channel panel, in the Channel panel, click on the new channel below the icon. At this point, we have created a blank alpha channel. Select the new channel and paste (Ctrl + V).

The function of the channel records the black and white color information, so you hold down the CTRL key and then click the channel with the mouse, at which point the Ant line appears on the layer, and the black and white information of the layer is separated. Make sure you select the White wireframe text section, and if not, select the white part in the reverse manner.

Back to the layers panel, we can see that our ant line is still there. Keep it up! Creates a new layer, sets the foreground color to white, and then fills in white in the area selected by the Ant line. Then fill the background with black. Cancels the selection.

  Six, neon light sense text

Realize the light effect, in the past I have written the PS Tutorial! Hands-on teaching you to create enchanted colorful neon text, PS Tutorial! To teach you to create shiny misty text effects, you have already detailed the steps to make a light sense effect. Of course, we'll use a similar approach here and there again.

Adds a gradient overlay layer style to the text layer, coloring the text. The parameters in the Layer style panel can be referenced as follows:

The effect is set as follows:

Here I teach you a little trick that lets you completely blend layer styles with layers, for example here I want to let the text overlay effect completely and the text layer fusion, then create a layer below the text layer, and then select both the text layer and the underlying layer, using the shortcut key combination ctrl+e Two layers can be combined.

Next, let's add a light sense to the text. Copy the text layer. Apply a Gaussian blur filter to the layer of the duplicate layer, with a fuzzy radius of 5px. The blur layer is then copied one layer, and the blending mode of the layer is superimposed instead. Then copy one more layer on this basis.

The background part of the text should correspondingly increase the projection effect of some light. Here, I copy layer 3 with text and place the copied layer below the text, which is above the background layer. Change the layer blending mode to normal.

Enter "Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur" with a fuzzy radius set to 7px.

At this time obviously the layer has not played as a projection of the performance effect, and then by adjusting the layer's hue and saturation, into the "Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation", just a slight adjustment of the various parameters of the slider, so that the entire effect to the direction of the final effect to move closer. Click the "Coloring" column. Subtle adjustments will make the final effect even better.

OK, this is the end of my tutorial, but the polishing process is not over yet and you need to continue adding a few personalized combinations of elements. Go ahead and entertain!

Postscript

I wonder if you use the filter in the pen record? No, that's right. No skill is worth remembering without a hands-on operation. That's the word, enjoy!.
