PS teaches you to create super lifelike dynamic flashing neon

Background image footage (save):

Neon lights usually work only at night, so the scene is obviously too bright. I use the color-level tool to darken it.

Give me a little more cold color.

OK Now this background is in line with my request. Now that we no longer need to fix the background map, it's best to combine them because there are very, very many layers to keep the layers simple and clear.

Enter the Adobe default bold for size 50. Preferably in English, the simpler the Strokes the better. Chinese is obviously difficult to handle. Here is very important, my neon gif not all the words are changed together, but alone. Sometimes the word is bright, sometimes the opposite. So we have to make each letter a separate layer. Here I just type in one letter, then copy n, you need a few letters to copy several layers. Then use the Mobile tool to arrange them evenly.

Change the letters to what you need, and then rename each letter to the corresponding layer, which is important and convenient to find later, right?

Click on the top layer, press SHIFT and click the bottom letter layer, and right-click to grid all letters. Now the letters have to be adjusted, and their perspective is clearly inconsistent with the brick walls. Keep all the letter layers in the selected state and use the free transform tool to simulate the perspective. Notice the transverse cracks in the brick wall? It is the reference line.

The following work will be very cumbersome, I hope you will have the same patience with me to complete.

Neon lights have no right angles, which means they have a certain arc in the corners. And the letters here do not meet this requirement. Now I'm going to take these letters and make them a little bit smoother with sharp angles. Select the first letter, Gaussian Blur 5. Then press Ctrl+f to give the same treatment.

Finally it should be so.

Now the letters are not what I want, their edges should be very clear, because I want to use their selection of the box to make a neon lamp. They need sharpening, click on the filter-usm sharpen.

Edge or a bit empty, continue sharpening once, feel satisfied with all the letters processed once, do it very simple, you only need to give each letter two times ctrl+f.

Below began to make neon lamp. Before that there is work to do, set up n groups, put letters into each group, and rearrange the names of named groups alphabetically. Then reduce the fill, so that the back of the work to do a bit better.

Press CTRL + LEFT to get the marquee, create a new 7-pixel stroke in the letter group, and do it one at a time in any color.

This is done after the effect. Then I have to deal with these tubes, you notice, the neon is not closed, it has the beginning and the end of the place, that is, there are gaps. I'm going to simulate this. Actually very simple, with an eraser on the line. But the two sides seem to be a little bit thicker. Rub a hole, and then use a brush to paint the head of the lamp, so dry.

Next I use the layer style to simulate the lighting effect when extinguished. Very simply, the inner shadow relief can almost perfectly simulate this effect.

The back is simple, copy layer style, to all the tubes are pasted once, the letter behind the first hidden, we do not need them before, OK.

Continue pressing CTRL + LEFT to get the lamp selection, and create a new layer of fill light blue in the corresponding group. Each letter has to be manipulated once.

This is what I'm going to use to make glowing tubes, just glowing, not including the glow around.

Continue to deepen this effect by copying each new letter, which is a pale blue letter. CTRL + left the selection in each new letter layer, shrink 2 pixels, feather 1 pixels, fill the white, simulate the high light of the lamp. This process is very cumbersome, but there are shortcuts, open action can be recorded, recording methods:

Open the Action Control Panel on the right side of the interface (if the interface is the default), and if not, find it in the window.

Click to create a new action--recording (similar to a recorder-like playback, pause, button, very understood)

Then you want to record the operation, the operation completed point stop button on it.

If you want to play on other pictures, click on the new action to play on it, the picture will be just the new action to deal with, to achieve the effect you want.

I finished the work very quickly with the action.

Now I'm going to tidy up the layer bar. Select the layers with the layer style, that is, the layers I'm going to use to make the lights out, all pulled out and placed in a separate group. We don't have to ignore them, because they should be there, whether the lights are on or off.

The alphabet is now much cleaner, a glowing tube layer, a blue color I'm going to use to make a halo, and a white letter.

I'm going to start doing halo, it's very simple, Gauss fuzzy on the line of course to change the mode. Scruple to the huge amount of work, I open the action to record the process, like just to the lamp to raise the light, I just need to make one on the line, the back with the action to complete. Click on the blue Stroke layer, Gaussian blur 8.5, feel a bit pale, copy a layer. After merging, change the mode to "color filter". Notice the action process in the blue box and then you can press the play key to repeat the work later.

Finish effect:

Here it begins to cast light on the wall, and now those white letters come in handy. Open the Hidden white letters, press CTRL + the left mouse button click on all the white letter layer, to the right slightly to move some distance. Neon is not affixed to the wall, it is not far from the wall and not close to the distance. So the light on the wall and the neon lights will have some perspective effect.

began to do the light on the wall. Click on the white letter, press CTRL + the left mouse button to get the selection, filled with the same as the glow lamp blue. Remove the selection, Gaussian Blur 63.0, duplicate a layer, after merging the mode to "color Dodge", OK ~ with the recorded action to complete all the letters behind the reconstruction project. Inside the blue box is the production process I recorded.

Moving the halo layer over the top with a serious Gaussian blur is now more realistic.

The static diagram is almost complete. And the floor, when the neon lights up, there's a little light on the floor. Copy the Halo on the wall and move to the floor one by one. Reduce the filling hundred percent, almost to 70 on the line. There is a problem here, I feel the lamp out when the color is too bright, as if still electricity,

Dim the dots slightly with a level of color. Also use the action recording method to quickly and efficiently finish the work behind.

Static diagram completed, beginning GIF production.

Open the timeline, first of all, there is a concept in mind, I want to let them in what order in the opening and closing. My idea is this: P,v and J and the middle of a normal operation, R word estimated to die, occasionally light, and the brightness will often change. The O-word flashed incessantly. The last A is OK, the light time is longer, occasionally will flash a bit.

Open the timeline, except for the R word all lit, because it is only an occasional measure. To copy a frame, click the "Transition animation frame" below to increase to 25 frames. Now a total of 27 frames.

Next, it's almost impossible for me to explain, as long as you follow the way you want to switch frames on the line. For example, I want to flash the O word in the second frame and click on the eye-like icon in the layer bar. It will automatically light up when you click on the third frame. Or I'm going to let R start slowly darkening at 5 frames. Click on frame Five to reduce the transparency of the R group. Then click on "Transition animation frame" over a 3, 4 frames is almost.

Final effect:
