Because ice is a kind of transparent special matter, not only the light through the refraction phenomenon, and the edge of the ice will produce a frost-like phenomenon, so many people think that the use of Photoshop to achieve Ice cube effect will be difficult. In fact, using Photoshop7.0 can easily achieve this effect. Here is a step-by-step guide to learn to use PS to make Ice Cube effect.

Figure 1

1. Open the Image1.jpg picture in the material bag, this is a glass full of water picture, we will make it as the background. Since glass is a transparent object, we cannot make the ice cubes first and then put them in the background, but we should make ice cubes according to the background image. As shown in Figure 2

Figure 2

2. Create a new layer in the layers version, named "Layer 1", where we will build cubes of ice. Click Filter-Render -3d transform, and the 3D Transform dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 3:

Figure 3

3. In the 3D Transform dialog box in Figure 3, click the Cube button shown in 1, pull out a green cube outline in the blank area, and then click the Rotate button shown in Figure 3 2 to reveal the gray back of the cube. As shown in Figure 4

Figure 4

4. Click OK to see a cube object appearing in Layer 1, as shown in Figure 5

Figure 5

5. The above steps we mainly use the "3D conversion" filter can quickly create a cube effect, but also can accurately get the perspective of each surface relationship. But these three sides of the dark difference is not small, click on "Image-adjust-automatic levels", from Figure 6 can be seen, adjust the color level of the cube after the 3-face of the dark difference is very obvious.

Figure 6

6. Press ctrl+t, a transform box appears around the cube, and then drag each control point, the cube to the appropriate size and drag to the appropriate position, press ENTER to confirm. The transformed effect is shown in Figure 7:

Figure 7

7. Below we will make a stroke of each face of the cube, create a new layer on the graph level version, name "Layer 2", select "Layer 1", and use the Magic wand tool to select a face of the cube to establish the contour selection of the face. Then change the foreground color to white, confirm that Layer 2 is selected, click Edit-Stroke to appear the Stroke dialog box, set the stroke width to 5 pixels in the Width box, and click OK, as shown in Figure 8.

Figure 8

8. Then follow the steps in step 7th to perform the same stroke operation on the other two sides of the cube in turn, after finishing three sides of the side of the effect Figure 9, it is noteworthy that all of our strokes are on "Layer 2", that is, the stroke is traced to "Layer 2".

Figure 9

9. In the layers panel, hold down the CTRL key and click the Layer 1 layer to select the layer, and then hold down the Ctrl+shift key and click "Layer 2" to add the stroke content of Layer 2 to just the selection, as shown in Figure 10:

Figure 10

10. In the channel panel, press the button shown in Figure 11 1 to store the selection as a channel, and the system automatically names it "Alpha 1", which is designed to save the outline of the cube after the stroke.

Figure 11 11. Then switch to the channels panel and confirm that layer 1 is selected. Set its opacity to 20%, then click in the box in front of Layer 2, Link Layer 2 with Layer 1, as shown in Figure 12, then click the Layer menu, select Merge link layer, or press the shortcut key ctrl+e , combine layer 1 with Layer 2 to form a single layer.

Figure 12

12. At this point, the transparent effect of ice is almost out, but the light through the ice to produce refraction, will make the image content on the back of the ice can distort the effect, so we next to the background to do distorted deformation processing, which is the beginning of why I said the ice effect to be made according to the background Instead of just doing the ice cubes and pasting them into the background. In the layers panel, confirm that the background layer is selected, and then switch to the channels panel, hold down the CTRL key and click the "Alpha 1" layer, load the cube outline selection, and then switch to the Layers panel.

13. Select the background layer, and then click Filter-Blur-Gaussian blur to blur the contents of the marquee and fill in the blur radius by 2, as shown in Figure 13:

Figure 13

14. Click "Filter-Twist-Twist", the "Rotation distortion" dialog box appears, set angle 85 in the Angle box, click "OK", the specific settings such as Figure 14, the image after processing as shown in Figure 15:

Figure 14

Figure 15 (blurred and distorted image effects)

15. Click on "Filter-art-sponge", open the "Sponge" dialog box, as shown in Figure 16 set the parameters, click "OK", the ice effect as shown in Figure 17:

Figure 16

Figure 17

16. Click Filter-Art-plastic wrap, set the parameters in the plastic wrap box as shown in Figure 18, and then click OK to see the image as shown in Figure 19:

Figure 18

Figure 19 (Image effect After the sponge filter is processed)

17. Click Filter-Twist-ocean ripple to open the Ocean Ripple settings box, and after setting the parameters in Figure 20, the image effect is shown in Figure 21:

Figure 20

Figure 21 (effect after the ocean Ripple filter is processed)

18. At this point, the texture of the ice has come out, and then we handle the edges of the ice. Switch the layer to layer 1, click Filter-Blur-Gaussian blur, open the Gaussian Blur dialog box, set the blur radius to 1.5, and click OK. The blurred image effect is shown in Figure 22:

Fig. 22 (the effect after the edge of the cube cubes)

19. Next we'll smooth the edges of the ice, click Select-Modify-smooth, pop the smooth selection box, set to 10 pixels in the Sample Radius dialog box, click OK, and the four corners of the selection become sleek.

20. Press Ctrl+shift+i to reverse the selection, select the extra parts, and then press the DELETE key to delete the image contents, then press Ctrl+shift+i to select the selections we need. The image effect at this point is shown in Figure 23:

Figure 23

21. Click Layer-Merge visible layer to merge layer 1 into the background layer. Press CTRL + C to copy the ice, and then paste the contents of the Clipboard into a new file and save it in PSD format.

22. Next, we'll deal with the texture of the ice, click Filter-Blur-radial blur, open the radial blur box, and set it up in Figure 24.

Figure 24

Fig. 25 (Image effect after radial blur)

23. Because of the texture of the ice and the glass has a certain image of the place, so we use glass filters to further deal with the texture of ice. Click Filter-Twist-glass to open the glass box and set the parameters by reference to Figure 26. Fig. 27 is the effect after the glass filter is processed.

Figure 26

Figure 27

24. It is clear that the texture of the ice is out, but its brightness and contrast are obviously not in harmony with the background and must be dealt with. Open image-adjust-brightness/contrast, as shown in Figure 28, setting the brightness and contrast values as shown in Figure 29:

Figure 28

Figure 29 (Adjust the brightness and intensity of the image effect)

25. The final step, given the frost-like effect around the ice, the final step is to use the "stroke" effect to make this frost-like effect. Click Edit-Stroke to appear in the Stroke dialog box, refer to the parameter settings in Figure 30 to stroke the ice (remember color must choose white) operation.

Figure 2

26. At this point, our ice effect is out, as shown in Figure 31, but because the beginning of cube ice placement is not too good, resulting in the ice "King" style, hehe. Fortunately we just learn how to make ice texture effect, but not strict position requirements, we hope that everyone haihan.
