Python Learning 14: Filter ()

The filter () function is built into Python for filtering sequences.
Usage:
Filter () receives a function and a sequence. Filter () applies the incoming function to each element sequentially, and then decides whether to persist or discard the element based on whether the return value is true or false.

Demo
1. In a list, delete the even number and keep only the odd number:

#filter odd number in the listdef is_odd(n):    return21print filter(is_odd , [12345691016])

2. Delete the empty string in a sequence:

#filter not_empty string in a listdef not_empty(s):    returnand s.strip()print filter(not_empty , [‘A‘‘‘‘B‘None‘C‘,‘   ‘])
