Cuda (compute unified device architecture) is a new infrastructure that uses GPU to solve complex computing problems in business, industry, and science. It is a complete gpgpu solution that provides direct access interfaces for hardware, without the need to rely on graphical API interfaces to achieve GPU access in the traditional way. The architecture adopts a new computing architecture to use the hardware resources provided by the GPU, which provides a more powerful computing capability than the CPU for large-scale data computing applications. Cuda uses C language as the programming language to provide a large number of high-performance computing command development capabilities, enabling developers to build a more efficient intensive data computing solution based on the powerful computing capabilities of the GPU.

By using cuda, the graphics workstation can fully apply the powerful computing capabilities of quadro graphics cards.

Quadro FX 1800 is a mid-range product of the tenth generation Quadro

64 GPUs, 192-bit 768 MB gddr3 video memory, bandwidth up to 38.4 Gb/s, FX 1800 provides 30-bit color output (10-bit pixels), FX 1800 does not support SDI and SLI.

FX 1800 uses a PCI-E 2.0 x16 interface, with a maximum power consumption of 1800 W so that it only needs a single slot design, and FX also provides a new generation of output methods: two displayport interfaces and one duallink DVI-I interface, displayport has unique advantages over common DVI and HDMI interfaces.

We finally removed the wind guide (5 screws) of the shell. We can see that the internal structure of quadro fx1800 is relatively simple. A large area of the video card is covered by a heat sink.

We have built a middle-end workstation platform using the Asus p6t6 ws revolution motherboard. In terms of processors, we chose the Xeon e5540 using the nehalem-EP core. This processor is currently a mainstream product in the nehalem-EP product line. It is also the processor just released by Intel and has powerful performance. In terms of hard disk, we chose Seagate cheetah 15k. 5 hard disk with a speed of 15000 rpm. We used two RAID 0 arrays to achieve better performance. In the test, we didn't use the Array Chip that comes with the p6t6 ws revolution motherboard, but used the lsi sas 3041e-r card, which is a 4-Port 3 Gbps SAS card, integrated with RAID 0, RAID 1, raid 1E, and 10E functions, more than enough can be used here.

It is worth mentioning that, in order to help you observe the performance improvement of quadro fx1800, we chose the HP xw8600 workstation for comparison. This workstation uses the Quadro fx4600 video card, it is a high-end product of the Quadro product line. NVIDIA describes it as "superior image quality ". However, due to the large differences in the test platform, the comparison data we provide here is for reference only.
