The question about waitingforthenetworkconfiguration is prompted when Ubuntu11.10 is started. Recently, it was hard to endure the combination of Ubuntu11.04Server + GNOME3, and finally made up its mind to return to the mainstream route. The installation of Ubuntu11.10 still failed to get rid of the nightmare of Ubuntu connection .... alas, there are always so many problems, how can they be popularized? sigh .. the problem encountered this time is the location where the screen is read.

The question about waiting for the network configuration prompt during Ubuntu 11.10 startup.

The combination of Ubuntu 11.04 Server + GNOME3 has been unbearable recently, and it is finally determined to go back to the mainstream path and install Ubuntu 11.10.

But I still don't get rid of the nightmare of Ubuntu connection... alas, there are always so many problems, how can it be popularized? sigh ..

The problem this time is that the reading of the screen stops for a long time.

First, the system prompts waiting for the network configuration.

Then Waiting for 60 seconds more for network configuration

The last is booting system without full network configuration...

It takes three minutes to start the Thinkpad X61,

The NetworkManager provided by ubuntu has never been able to drive the wireless network card normally, so that I have to unload the network card and change it to wicd every time,

As a result, the network status cannot be displayed in the upper right corner... Alas

I have checked a lot of forums, and foreigners are also considering this issue. There are a variety of solutions. Here we provide an effective solution for my situation.

First, let's briefly introduce my local environment:

Ubuntu 11. 10 ....

Thinkpad X61 + wlan + wicd + pppoe + adsl

Therefore, the original/etc/network/interfaces file here is as follows:

Auto lo
Iface lo inet loopback

Auto dsl-provider
Iface dsl-provider inet ppp
Pre-up/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 up # line maintained by pppoeconf
Provider dsl-provider

Auto wlan0
Iface wlan0 inet manual

Auto eth0
Iface eth0 inet manual

First, I have commented out all of them here... (note)

Reboot after saving. If you find that the system startup speed is soaring... Congratulations, this method works for your machine,

If there is no significant change... Ignore this method...

Of course, all comments won't be connected to wireless devices, so you need to leave a few lines of content:

Auto lo
Iface lo inet loopback

Auto wlan0
Iface wlan0 inet manual

In this way, the instance can be started quickly, and the problem is solved. The difference is that no default dial-up network is enabled on the instance, and you can do this by yourself.
