Questions about installing RAC using Openfiler as a shared storage
First: Be sure to use Openfiler-2.3-x86-disc1.iso This version of the Openfiler, do not use other versions of the Openfiler software, because the use of other versions of the Openfiler software will encounter a RAC node restart and so on.
The uname output of the Openfiler virtual machine (Openfiler-2.3-x86-disc1.iso) is: [[email protected] ~]# uname-alinux share 2.6.26.8-1.0.11. smp.pae.gcc3.4.x86.i686 #1 SMP Sun Jan 00:57:28 GMT i686 Athlon i386 Gnu/linux[[email protected] ~]# uname-r2.6.2 6.8-1.0.11.smp.pae.gcc3.4.x86.i686[[email protected] ~]# Uname-mi686[[email protected] ~]#
Second: Allocating 1G of memory to the Openfiler virtual machine is sufficient.
Also note:
I use VMware workstation to virtualize the RAC nodes, and note that the number of logical CPUs for a RAC node must not be 1, or at least 2. Otherwise, you will encounter a problem with the RAC node restart.
Of course, the memory of the RAC node is not too small---it is well known that it is easy to overlook the number of logical CPUs for a RAC node.
