What is an Office Web App?

The Office Web App allows you to use IE to open and edit documents stored in the SharePoint 2010 site Documentation library.

Is the Office Web App part of SharePoint 2010?

No. The Office Web App has its own installation program.

There is also its own independent Key. That is, it is not enough to have the serial number of SharePoint 2010, and the Office Web App has its own serial number. It seems that this function needs to be purchased separately.

Do Office Web apps need to be installed on all servers?

An Office Web App is installed on a WFE instance. When the Wizard is run, the wizard reports an error, indicating that the Office Web App is not installed on another machine. The Next button is grayed out and cannot be continued.

Does the Office Web App provide the same functions for different client programs?

1. Excel files can be edited by multiple users at the same time through Office Web Apps, but cannot be edited by multiple users at the same time using the Excel client.
2. Word and PowerPoint documents can be edited simultaneously by multiple users through the Office client program.
3. The OneNote document allows multiple people to open the document and edit it simultaneously through Office Web Apps or through the Office client program, that is, both IE and client can.

Online Editing provided by Office Web Apps cannot completely replace all functions of Office client software.
