"Cannot open" error when Office Starter 2010 program starts

If Word Starter 2010 or Excel Starter 2010 cannot be opened, uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010

Operation Steps:

Click the startup picture (or "Start" > "Run" in Windows XP).

Type appwiz.cpl, and then press Enter.

Before proceeding further, make sure that you see Microsoft Office 2010 in the list of installed programs. Later, you will need to use this program to reinstall Office Starter 2010 on your computer.
