SOURCE from: http://ulapps.com/451, want to try in the virtual machine can see the original, thank the original author, this article to the original text, add process annotation, explain Ubuntu 10.04LTS hard disk installation method.
The installation image of A:ubuntu 10.04 TLS can be downloaded to http://ubuntu.org.cn/getubuntu/download/and burned to a mirrored disc after downloading.
B:a If you want to install Ubuntu, make sure you have a minimum of 512MB of memory and 8GB of hard disk space, for a multiple system environment, do not repartition the partition in advance, Ubuntu will automatically help you narrow down the partition and create the partitions needed for Ubuntu during the installation process. However, make sure that you have at least 12GB of available hard disk space (if you have more than one hard drive, make sure that there is at least 12GB of free space on the first hard drive, and Ubuntu's automatic partitioning feature only recognizes the first hard drive). PS: I am a multi-system installation, installed in the XP system Ubuntu, so that the system automatically reduce the partition, the last disk (40G) in advance of the empty, and finally Ubuntu automatically accounted for 22G, so I would like to pay attention to installation, more space to stay.
OK, let's start the installation (preferably to ensure network connectivity status):
1. Put the CD-ROM into the optical drive, boot press F12, choose to boot from the CD (this process does not write more), after starting the system to display the initial interface. Left dropdown box select "Chinese (Simplified), the entire installation process later is Chinese." Click "Install Ubuntu 10.04 LTS" to start installing Ubuntu
2. The system automatically sets the system time from the network read time
3. The system will automatically detect the computer in the time zone, confirm the correct and click "Forward" to continue the installation process. Time is often wrong, do not care about it, later change.
4. Then set the keyboard layout, generally use the default settings. Click "Forward" to go to the next step. (I tested for half a day and found that it works by default)
5. Then is the hard disk partition, here can be divided into two situations, single system or multiple systems. Careful, careless, your hard drive will be wasted. Be sure to look carefully. Here only the first two types of empty, behind the advanced situation, strongly recommended rookie do not try.
5.1 If you only want to use Ubuntu on this computer or install Ubuntu under a virtual machine, select "Empty and use the entire hard drive" and click Forward. (Only install Linux, will occupy the entire hard drive, careful.) )
5.2 If you want to install a dual system or multiple systems, Ubuntu will automatically identify other systems in the system, you simply choose to "install them separately, select from the Start" and click "Forward", and then Ubuntu will ask you if you want to do the operation, click "Continue" to confirm, Then Ubuntu automatically shrinks the original partitions and divides the two new partitions into Ubuntu, which can take about half an hour if you have more debris on your hard drive. (Make sure your free hard drive is adequate, and suggest that you leave more space on the last disk.)
6. Then enter your name, username and password, if you want to use the automatic login function, you can also set up here.
7. Finally Ubuntu will display a summary, confirm the correct and click "Install".
8. Then Ubuntu will begin to format the hard disk, download the relevant files to the hard disk and get some necessary files from the network, depending on your hardware and speed, this process will generally last 15 minutes to half an hour or so. (Download language pack is very slow, you can cancel, until the installation is complete and then install the language pack)
9. Finally click "Reboot now" to complete the installation process, click "Now reboot" before the best to remove the installation CD from the CD or from the virtual machine to uninstall the disc image.
10. If you do not remove the installation CD or uninstall the disc image before clicking "Now reboot", Ubuntu will also remind you to quit the installation disc and then press the ENTER key to reboot.
11. After pressing the ENTER key, Ubuntu will automatically reboot the system.
