1. Appendix Meditation V4.2.35 Version OS build Considerations 1.1 Installation Introduction
On the HP PC machine, follow the installation steps to set up the BIOS and boot to CD.
Insert the disc and enter the user and password at the prompt: Root/rocky
Input setup–g should start the GUI installation by default, but the installation fails because the video card is not supported.
Enter Setup to start the character interface installation
(Below, installation CD is provided on the installation procedure book, to install the OS)
1.2 Problem Solving 1.2.1 After the installation is complete, unable to enter the graphical interface, what to do?
Root cause: The graphics driver is not installed correctly.
(1) Under root user, perform #lspci-nn (carriage return), check VGA one. Confirm the graphics card model. Test machine is nvidia [0300] [10de:1245] (Rev A1)
(2) Download the 32bit and 64bit drivers for Linux systems on the NVIDIA website. (This time the operating system is 64bit); see "Nvidia-linux-x86_64-319.17.run"
(3) The 64bit graphics card driver copy machine directory, enter the directory, under the root user, execute
#./Nvidia-linux-x86_64-319.17.run--ui=none (note is two-)
(Note that when prompted to replace the current/etc/x11/xorg.conf configuration file with Nvida-xconfig, be sure to enter Yes.)
(4) Perform #init 5 switch to multi-user mode, the graphical interface appears.
1.2.2 Restart, the Nvidia graphics interface appears, a moment, and enter the single-user mode, how to do?
The root cause is that the server timeout set in KDM desktop management is too small and the default is 15 seconds.
Modification Method:
#vi/USR/SHARE/CONFIG/KDM/KDMRC
Find the # number in front of servertimeout=15, remove it and change 15 to 60.
Indicates that the time-out allowed for KDM is 60 seconds after logging in.
1.2.3 successfully login to the KDE interface, the system pops up the KDE initialization interface, then, the interface has only one mouse, nothing, how to solve?
After successfully logging in to the KDE interface, the system pops up the KDE initialization interface, then the interface has only one mouse, nothing, press CTL+ALT+F2, perform top, and discover that the Kconf_update process accounts for 100% CPU
Root cause: The KDE default configuration file under the current user is not found.
WORKAROUND: Under Super User, execute
#cp –r/etc/skel/.kde/root
(Note: For the created non-root user, if this happens, also copy the directory to the relevant user's home directory)
1.2.4 System after installation, the sound does not work, how to do?
Root cause: The sound card driver was not successfully installed.
Workaround: Install the sound card driver. Follow the steps in install files in the installation package. Finally, use the alsaconf command to configure the sound card, alsamixer adjust the volume.
1.2.5 System installation using the Full installation method, Telnet, directly exit?
Root cause: There are extra options in the/etc/security/limits.conf file
WORKAROUND: Super User Login, edit the file,
Find the # End of file followed by a similar
* Hard Memlock Unlimited
* Soft Memlock Unlimited
Delete all.
Then restart the inetd service.
#/etc/init.d/./inetd restart
Ok
1.2.6 Host Name Modification:
First, permanent modification
Modify the/etc/sysconfig/network to specify the host name Hostname=
Then execute the command.
Hostname Host Name
This time can write off the system, and then re-login after the line.
or modify the/etc/hosts file to add
192.168.2.13 Linux # # # #ip + host Name
And then:
Hostname Host Name
This time you can unregister the system, and then re-login
Second, temporary modification:
Execute under Shell:
#hostname Host Name
Ctrl+d Log off the system and re-login
First modify with HOSTNAME, then export hostname= the new host name
