"Original" Microsoft released private cloud products Hyper-V cloud Thoughts

Beijing Time November 9, Microsoft released a private cloud product Hyper-V Cloud at the TechEd conference to help businesses build private clouds faster and more easily. Microsoft has also launched the Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track certification program, working with Dell, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, IBM and NEC to develop hardware and software that meets Microsoft's requirements. Microsoft also released the Hyper-V Deployment Guide, listing 200 companies with different size and server settings to use Microsoft's software and cloud services to quickly build their own private cloud.

I am very interested in cloud computing, in the past has been contacted VMware ESX products, Microsoft virtualization Products Hyper-V, Microsoft Application Server products AppFabric. VMware's products are already mature enough to support the private cloud of the enterprise. Microsoft is betting on cloud computing, and it is said that more than 70% of Microsoft's people are now working on cloud computing, a percentage that can reach 90% in the future. Microsoft moves to catch up with VMware completely, launched AppFabric, Hyper-V cloud and other products. Unlike the public cloud environment, the enterprise environment is complex, and private cloud platforms must provide support for a variety of operating systems. Microsoft's system has always been less compatible with non-Microsoft products, but Hyper-V provides Linux,saloris,unix support, although the supported versions are not as good as VMware.

When I talk to my peers about private clouds, someone comes up with an SOA analogy, and I think both of them are hype, but there's an essential difference. SOA is not the same, need to adapt the architecture of the software, different software is developed by different vendors, it is difficult to achieve SOA, so it is not easy for customers to realize the benefits of SOA. The construction of private cloud computing platform relies mainly on hardware manufacturer and system software provider, once the technical condition is ripe, it is easy to do large-scale application and realize explosive growth.

The public cloud is a new business service model, typically operated by large service providers, providing public services to the public. The main purpose of the private cloud is to reduce IT costs, improve hardware utilization, reduce power costs, reduce maintenance costs, reduce footprint, which is attractive to enterprises. I think the private cloud of the market is very large, the current private cloud products gradually mature, and soon VMware, Microsoft and other manufacturers will launch a fierce market scramble, the next 2 years is a high-speed growth period, the next 2-5 years is an outbreak of universal period.

I think that for small and medium-sized it enterprises to engage in private cloud solutions and related services more promising.
