DB2 Wizard installation under Windows

Now DB2 has supported a wide range of IT infrastructures that can be run on many platforms. The three platforms of Windows, Linux, and Unix are collectively known as the LUW platform. For self-taught DB2, because it is not possible to purchase mainframe or high-end server, so more is the DB2 installed on the LUW platform for practice. If you want to be as close to the real production environment as possible, and to lay the groundwork for future work, it's best to run DB2 on Linux (and of course on Unix).

DB2 Method of installation classification:

DB2 can be installed in a variety of different platforms, in general, DB2 like the following three ways to install: 1, DB2 Installation Wizard installation (also known as graphical interface installation) 2, the response file installation (also known as silent installation) 3, db2_ Install command installation (also known as command line character interface installation)

Installing DB2 on the Windows platform can be installed with graphical interface installation or silently installed, but cannot be installed using the command line character interface installation method.

Install DB2 on a Linux or UNIX platform, all of the above three installation methods are available.

DB2 Installation Wizard installation (also known as graphical interface installation) is the kind of "next step" that we usually use, Span style= "font-family:wingdings;" >à "Next"->............-> "Finish" installation method. On the Windows platform, enter the Installation Wizard interface by double-clicking a file like Db2setup.exe. On Linux or Unix platforms, it is mostly through running a db2setup-like command into the Graphical Installation wizard interface. Note that if you want to install this way on a Linux or UNIX platform, you must first ensure that the JRE and graphical interface systems are already configured on the platform (you can roughly assume that the GUI system is a desktop environment, and that many Linux and Unix do not have desktops, but you can install them yourself). Just as the wizard installs other software, DB2 's wizard installation allows the DB2 to be configured for the first time during the installation process. More importantly: We can use the DB2 Wizard installation process to create a DB2 response file (for silent installation). In the future we can easily replicate the same DB2 installation process on many of the same platforms by copying the response file (which is very common in the case of bulk installation of DB2 for a large number of identical platforms). You can think of a response file as a video recording of the entire wizard installation process, including the first configuration you made during this process and all of your input and selection as requested by the wizard during the installation. After copying the response file to another platform that does not have the same type of DB2 installed, the DB2 installer can complete all of the installation and first-time configuration procedures on its own, without requiring the user to manually enter some setup information during the installation process or during the first configuration process. This means that there is no need to install programs and people during the installation process because the person has been replaced by the response file. This fully automated installation using a response file that does not require human-computer interaction is the previously mentioned response file installation method, also known as silent installation.

The Db2_install command installation (also known as the command line character interface installation) is done in a pure character interface. This installation does not mix the first configuration process for DB2 during the installation process. So, if you want to make the first configuration of the DB2 at the same time as the installation, use the wizard installation method, and if you want to separate the installation and configuration, use the command-line installation.
