Prerequisites: 1 Install the Remote Desktop Connection tool upgrade to version 6.1.
2.Windows version upgrade to: XP SP3.
This article describes how to increase network authentication for Windows XP SP3 by modifying the registry.
In actual work, you may often use Remote Desktop connection, a more common case is Windows XP and Windows Vista, the default settings, Windows Vista Remote Desktop Connection is "only allowed to run computer with Network Level Authentication Remote Desktop Connection (more secure) , which means that authentication is performed prior to Remote Desktop Connection, which gives the system a more secure security.
In fact, Windows XP has been able to implement network authentication NLA (Network Level Authentication) after installing the SP3 patch package, but we have not found the appropriate support information in the Help information. In fact, this is because Windows XP SP3 does not automatically activate NLA support, we need to manually change the relevant key values in the registry, the following steps:
Step 1th: Go to Windows XP SP3, run "regedit" to open Registry Editor, and then go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa", double-click the in the right pane. Security Packages, the Edit Multiple String dialog box opens, adding "tspkg" to the list box, and the original content is not changed.
2nd step: Navigate to "Hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\securityproviders" in turn, double-click the "SecurityProviders" string on the right, Open the Edit String dialog box, add "Credssp.dll" to the Value data box, notice that there is an English space after the comma, and the comma is an English comma.
3rd Step: After completing the above modifications, restart the computer. Open Remote Desktop Connection from the Start menu again, and now we can see the "Support for Network Level authentication" information in the About window.
Note: If you are remotely connected to Windows Vista from Windows XP SP3, use the computer name instead of the IP address.
