How do I check if Oracle Advanced Security Option is installed?
Solution:
Starting from Oracle 8i, ASO ships with Enterprise Edition release of Oracle. In Oracle 8.0 and before, ASO is on a separate CD.
Oui's Enterprise Edition installation includes ASO option. In order to use the ASO feature, ASO must be installed on both client and server. ASO must be used in enterprise software and requires license.
Under UNIX and Windows platforms, the "Installed Products" in Oui ($ORACLE _home/oui/bin/runinstaller) can be checked, as shown in:
Under UNIX platforms, you can use the adapters command to check:
[email protected] ~]$ which adapters/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/adapters[[email protected] ~]$ adaptersinstalled Oracle Net Transport protocols is: IPC BEQ TCP/IP SSL RAW sdp/ Ibinstalled Oracle Net naming methods is: Local naming (Tnsnames.ora) Oracle Directory naming Oracle Host Na Ming Error!!! Oracle Names Server naming is not completely installed! Installed Oracle Advanced Security options is: RC4 40-bit encryption RC4 56-bit encryption RC4 128-bit en Cryption RC4 256-bit encryption DES40 40-bit encryption DES 56-bit encryption 3DES 112-bit Encryption 3DES 168-bit encryption AES 128-bit encryption AES 192-bit encryption AES 256-bit Encryption MD5 crypto-checksumming SHA-1 crypto-checksumming Kerberos v5 authentication
Please note that the line ERROR!!! Oracle Names Server naming is not completely installed! is expected behavior for the adapters command from version 10g onwards. This was due to the fact that Oracle Names is no longer shipped.
If after installation, Net Manager does does show Advance Security options, see Note 156345.1 Oracle Net Configuration Tool s do not Show ' advanced Security '
Oracle product Development has decided, starting with Oracle 11g, Oracle Advanced Security Option would be a installed by Default when installing Enterprise Edition. There is no-to-uninstall or to-install it. The reason behind the Oracle advanced Security Options be integrated at network adapter level and it's not appr Opriate to tweak network adapters after database installation.
