"Zen Beginner's Mind" reading notes (3)

The third part is to understand 1 meditation is not for enlightenment (1) as long as meditation, enlightenment is in it.

Whether you are meditating or not, Buddha-nature is your self-sufficient. Because of your Buddha-nature, you will be enlightened in your practice. We emphasize not the attainment of the realm, but the strong faith in our true nature and the sincerity of practice.

(2) When I was removed, there was a Buddha.

According to the traditional Buddhist understanding, our nature is not self. When we go beyond the concept of "I", we can look at life in the eyes of Buddha. The idea of "me" is only a mystery, which will deceive our Buddha-nature.

(3) As a means of enlightenment, it is impossible to go anywhere
你的修行是否真诚?是不是做了正确的努力,对修行方式理解是否正确?当你采用正确的心态去做的时候,开悟就存在你心中。最重要的是当下,而不是未来的某一天。
(4) After enlightenment, the Buddha still strives to practice.
开悟后对佛陀的影响

Enlightenment has made his view of life unshakable and rock-solid. He observes all life, including his own life. He treats himself in the same light, treats others, treats stones, treats trees and everything else. He has a very scientific understanding, and this is his way of life after enlightenment.

我们要尝试去做,去修行

Only through practical practice rather than through reading philosophy or contemplation can we know what the Dharma is. We should continue to meditate, to maintain a strong belief in our true nature, to break through the shackles of karmic chains, in this world, to find our correct position.

2 acceptance of impermanence
“无常”是佛教的基本教法。

In fact, the self-nature of every thing is nothing more than the change itself, which is the self-nature of all things. Every kind of thing that exists?? There is no separate, discrete self-nature.

(1) Accept impermanence, you will not be in pain

If we refuse to accept the fact of impermanence, we will not be fully plague yourself until. Unfortunately, although this fact is true, it is unacceptable to us. We will suffer because we refuse to accept the impermanent truth. So the origin of bitterness is that we refuse to accept this truth.

(2) You will find the truth through your troubles and tribulations.
佛教是内求:

We shouldn't be looking for something outside of ourselves. We should find the truth in this world-to find through our troubles, to find through our tribulations, which is the basic teachings of Buddhism.

(3) The Lightning Flash
坐禅的目的:

The purpose of zazen is to achieve freedom in both body and mind. Everything is just another manifestation of the essence of existence.

(4) Dynamic and static are actually the same

When you are engaged in an activity, as long as your heart is focused and confident, then the essence of your state of mind is the activity itself. When you focus on the nature of your existence, you prepare for the activity, and activities are simply the essence of our existence. When we are meditating, the essence of silence is the essence of the existence of the great activity itself.

(5) You and I just exist in a flash
因为佛教认为无常,这一刹那和另一刹那之间的你已经有了变化。
(6) We all exist free

When I meditate, other people cease to exist, but that does not mean that I am deliberately ignoring you. This is because I meditate in a world that is exactly the same as the universe.

(7) When you fall out of your body and heart

Because you think you have a body or a heart, there is a sense of loneliness, if you understand that all is just a flash of the vast universe, you will become very strong, and your existence will become very meaningful. This is the Enlightenment of Doyun, and it is the way of our practice.

4 Conform to Nature

But simply put, nature is something that is independent of everything, something that is based on a "nothing" activity. What comes from "nothing" is nature.

(1) Eat when you are hungry, and sleep when you are tired.

Real meditation is like drinking water when you are thirsty, and it's natural to nap when you feel tired. But if you sleep because you are lazy, because you feel that it is a privilege to sleep, it is unnatural.

(2) Keep your heart in a "no" state

You will experience the true pleasures of practice and the real pleasures of life. A moment later, sentient beings from the "no", and then an instant, we can enjoy the real joy of life, so, Buddhism will say: "Vacuum wonderful." The meaning of this sentence is that all the wonderful things come from the emptiness of reality.

(3) First soft heart, first to open all stereotypes

If you want to learn about Zen, you should throw away all your preconceptions, just meditate and see what you will experience in the course of your practice, which is nature.

No matter what activity you are engaged in, this attitude is necessary. Sometimes we call this attitude "soft heart". "Soft Heart" is a supple, natural heart. If you can have such a heart, you can enjoy the joy of life, if you lose it, you will lose everything. In spite of what you think you have, you actually have nothing. But if all you do is "nothing", you will have it all.

Focus on "None" (1) Does life exist and not exist?

What is "heretics"? It is when you take everything as it is, believing it to be physical and invariant, then you are not a disciple of Buddha. In this regard, most people are not Buddhist disciples.

(2) Find your Way

The real existence comes from the emptiness, and will return to the emptiness, the existence that appears in the emptiness is the real existence, we must pass through the emptiness gate.

As long as we have some definite idea or expectation of the future, we cannot face the present with a real earnest attitude.

You have to find your way in a flash. Some perfect ideals or perfect paths set by others are not our own true paths.

(3) Knowing yourself, you can understand everything

To get this true independence, we have to forget all the ideas, and then, in a flash, discover something quite new and different.

Before you study the Dharma, you should have a thorough cleaning of your heart. You must move everything out of the room and sweep the room thoroughly. If it is necessary to clean up the room, you can move everything back. You may need a lot of things, so you might as well put them back in one piece. But if there is something that is not needed, then there is no need to keep it, otherwise your room will be filled with shabby, useless rubbish.

(4) to the east, one to the west.

If you deliberately seek freedom, you will not find freedom. You must have absolute freedom before you get absolute freedom, and this is our practice. Our way is not always in the same direction, we sometimes go east, sometimes we go west.

(5) Should we concentrate on breathing?
通过关注呼吸,专注于当下

Yes, we have said that meditation should be focused on breathing. But we say this just so that you can forget all about yourself by focusing on your breathing-and if you forget yourself, you will focus on breathing.

6 now read and read again

In the "Heart Sutra", the most important idea is of course void. Before we know the concept of voidness, everything seems to us to be real and substantive. But when we understand the emptiness of things, everything becomes real, but not real. Knowing that everything is just part of the emptiness, we will not cling to any real. We will understand that everything is just a stopgap hue.

(1) "Heart Sutra" teaches people to be liberated from suffering

We do not realize this truth until we reach enlightenment. To understand this truth is to live-live in the present and live here and now. Therefore, this is not a matter of understanding or practice, it is the ultimate fact. In the Heart Sutra, the Buddha just wanted to point out the ultimate fact that we have been facing for a moment. This is a very important point, which is the meditation of the Dharma teachings. Even before the practice, enlightenment existed.

(2) An unintentional practice is a true practice.
不要刻意

When you deliberately go to meditation, you will create a specific concept of "you" or "Me", and will have some ideas about meditation. In this way, you will divide yourself and zazen into two sides, one on the other, and the other on the other side. In this way, you and Zazen will become two different things.

(3) Meditation with mindfulness

When our thinking is soft enough, it is called "the thought of the calm", and this kind of thinking is always stable, this is "mindfulness". Scattered thinking is not really thinking, our thinking should remain focused, this is "read". Regardless of whether there is an object, your heart should be stable and not scattered, this is zazen.

But we should not cling to specific wisdom, such as those taught to us by the Buddha. Wisdom is not something that learns. Wisdom comes from your "thoughts". So the point is, get ready to watch and get ready to think. This is called the emptiness of the heart, and emptiness is nothing more than meditation practice.

7 Believe "nothing" (1) Headache no big deal!

People get headaches, and there's always a reason to feel better if you know why you have a headache. But if you don't know why, you might think, "Alas, I have a terrible headache! Maybe it's because of my lack of practice. If I meditate a little harder, I might not be bothered! " If you understand things this way, you will lose complete faith in yourself and in your practice. You will practice desperately, want to achieve the perfect state, so I am afraid that you will be too busy and all the headaches! This is a rather foolish way of practicing.

(2) Don't be bound by faith

Concepts that are not in Buddhism:

But what I mean by "none" is not nothingness, which is something, something that is ready to put on a particular phase, and that has certain rules, theories, or truths in its activities. Such "No" is the Buddha-nature, is the Buddha itself.

(3) Do you believe yourself to be a Buddha?
专注于当下,生活在当下。
(4) "Enlightened" first!

In Buddhist terms, we should first obtain enlightenment, then practice, and then think. Our thinking is usually self-centered, and in our daily lives, 99% of our thinking is self-centered. "Why should I suffer this?" Why am I in such trouble? The way we think about things, 99% is the case.

What I call "enlightenment" means believing in "nothing", believing there are certain things that are colorless and have no phase, and are ready to be painted and phased. This is an unshakable truth, and our activities, thoughts, and practices should be based on the truth of this source.

80,000 things in one (1) meditation is life, life is meditation
不要把生活和禅修进行对立,两者实为一体

"One" is precious, but "many" is also wonderful, ignoring diversity and emphasizing absolute oneness is a biased understanding. In this understanding, there is a gap between "one" and "many". But "one" and "many" are the same thing, so we should appreciate the oneness of each individual, which is why we emphasize the importance of daily life more than a certain state of mind. We should find the reality in every moment, every form of content reality. This is a very important point.

(2) Love and hatred as a whole

Doyun Jackson said: " Although all things are Buddha-nature, we love flowers rather than weeds ." "This is the nature of humanity." But clinging to something beautiful is also the activity of Buddha, and not like weeds is also the activity of Buddha, this is what we should understand. If we understand this truth, then there is nothing wrong with clinging to something. If it is a Buddha's attachment, it is without practice. Therefore, there should be hatred in love-or no, there should be love in hate-or accept.

Love and hate are the same thing. We should not cling to love alone, we should also accept hatred. No matter how we feel about weeds, we should still accept weeds. If you don't like it, you don't have to love it, but if you love it, you love it.

You will often criticize yourself for not being fair to the people around you, and you are criticizing your own unacceptable attitude. But the so-called "acceptance" of our Zen Tao is different from the acceptance that you understand. People always teach us this: day and night are the same, you and I are the same, this means that everything is one. But we don't even emphasize this oneness. If all things are one, there is no need to emphasize one.

(3) A wise man is a fool, a fool is a wise man.

We don't emphasize anything, all we want to do is to know the reality of things. If we know the reality of things, there is no good focus.

As Doyun Jackson said: " Although we love flowers, flowers will still be grateful, although we do not love weeds, weeds or the President ." "Even so, this is our life." We should understand life in this way so that we don't have to worry about it.

(4) You have to worry about it.

We have trouble because we are always emphasizing some particular aspect. We should accept them in the natural face of all things, which is our way of understanding the world and living in the world. This kind of experience is beyond thinking.

To be born is a lot of trouble, but these troubles are not really disturbing. These troubles are created, amplified by our self-centered notions. Because of what we magnify, the trouble is born.

9 Meditation in Silence (10) A weed is a treasure house

In meditation, you should not try to gain something, you should simply meditate and not rely on anything. Keep your body upright, not next to or against something. Keeping your body upright means that you are not dependent on anything. In this way, neither the body nor the heart is dependent on anything, and you will get complete silence. On the contrary, if you depend on what you are meditating on or want to achieve, then your meditation is two yuan and cannot be completely static.

(10) The significance of the effort lies in the effort itself
体验当下,体验过程,而不是为了某个结果

In our daily life, we always want to accomplish something, to turn one thing into another, or to acquire something, which is itself a manifestation of our true nature. But the significance of the effort should be in the effort itself, we should be to achieve something before we first understand the meaning of the effort.

10 Dharma is an experience (1) before meditation, first radical reform

In a group, meditation is the most important thing for Buddhism, because this practice is the most original way of life. Without radical reform, we cannot taste the result of our life effort. Our efforts must be meaningful, and to know the meaning of our efforts, we must find the source of our efforts. Before you know the origin, you should not care about the fruits of your efforts. If the source is not pure, our efforts will not be pure, and the results will not be satisfactory.

(2) Meditation with pure Heart

The purpose of meditation is to re-purify the way of life, beyond all the gains and losses of the heart and the heart of fame and fortune. The purpose of our practice is only to maintain the true nature of the original face. We do not need to use knowledge to analyze our pure nature, because nature transcends the understanding of knowledge. Nor do we need to appreciate nature, because it transcends our appreciation. So, just meditate! Holding the most pure motive, silent as our original nature, this is the way we should practice.

(3) is Zen religion before the advent of "religion"?

But Zen is wonderful, and although we do not have an understanding of what Zen is, although we do not have any cathedrals or dazzling decorations, Zen allows us to savor our true nature, which I think is very unusual.

11 Real Buddhists (1) Meditation is what keeps us from being persistent.

The Dharma is only the truth itself, and this truth contains all kinds of truths. Meditation is a practice that encompasses a variety of activities in everyday life, so in fact we don't just emphasize the posture of meditation, how meditation is how we act. We learn how to act through meditation, because meditation is the most basic activity, which is why we have to study meditation.

(2) The emphasis on Zazen is not true meditation.

To do anything, to live at every moment, is a brief activity of the Buddha.

(3) All postures are in "zazen".

Because they do not understand this, people will deliberately emphasize the importance of an activity. When they emphasize zazen, it's not really meditation.

(4) It's just a Buddhist.

We should forget all the specific teachings and not ask what is "good" and what is "evil". There should be no specific teaching method that exists at every moment, every existence, and this is the true teaching.

12 Hearts also need to rest

It is only when you are meditating that you have the most pure and genuine experience of the emptiness of your heart. Strictly speaking, the emptiness of the heart is not even a state of mind, but the original nature of the heart, which has been experienced by both the Buddha and the six fathers.

(1) Don't take the Buddha's words to heart

But if you keep his words in your heart, it's not good to see them. These words will become a burden on you, making you feel uncomfortable.

After all, good and evil are irrelevant, you are not able to calm themselves, so that they are not the limits of good and evil, that is the focus.

When something is in your mind, you can't get a real plague yourself until. The best way to get a complete plague yourself until is to forget everything. In this way, your heart will become quiet, wide and clear to see them in the face of things, without a trace of effort. The best way to get plague yourself until is to not keep the idea of anything, forget them all, leave no shadows or traces of thought.

(2) Keep a hollow

But only when you are meditating can you have the most pure and genuine experience of the emptiness of your heart. Strictly speaking, the emptiness of the heart is not even a state of mind, but the original nature of the heart, which has been experienced by both the Buddha and the six fathers. "The Heart", "The original", "Buddha-Nature", and "emptiness", all these words are described as the absolute peace of mind.

(3) Ha! It's just vanity.

Doyun Jackson said, "When the practice is established in vain." "Even if you think you are in vain, your pure heart still exists." To embody the pure heart in your vanity, this is the practice. As long as the vanity in the embodiment of the pure heart, false will disappear.

(4) The Dharma is in our hearts
要去做,要去坐禅,而不是只是知道

Buddhism emphasizes the non-consciousness of the world, the best way to develop Buddhism is to sit in meditation-just meditate, and at the same time, to believe in our true nature. This is much better than reading a book or studying the philosophy of Buddhism.

(5) Let's meditate together.

But philosophical discussion is not the best way to learn about Buddhism, and if you want to be a true Buddhist, the best way is to meditate.

13 Everyone can be a Buddha

In meditation, we will testify to Buddha-nature, each of us is a Buddha.

Buddha-Nature makes you live in the present.

Buddha Nature is our true nature, before the meditation, before the consciousness level before we know Buddha nature, we already have Buddha sex.

打坐只是让你更清楚的了解它。
You are the Buddha!
了解空性,活在当下,成为自己的主人,不要刻意,也不要带任何得失心。
PostScript Zen Heart

It is the Zen heart, a big, big heart, the heart is everything you see. Your heart is always with everything you see, even though you don't know it, but your mind is what you see in every moment.

不要刻意追求开悟:

Even if we have no experience of enlightenment, we can meditate in the right way as long as we have the right attitude and understanding of the practice, which in itself is Zen. The point is to practice carefully, to have a good understanding of the heart, and deep confidence.

(1) You have a big, big heart.

We must believe in the heart, and the heart is not something that you can experience with the object. The heart is always with you, right around you. Your eyes are right around you, because you can't see your eyes, and your eyes can't see themselves. The eyes only see things outside, that is, objects. If you reflect on yourself, the self-reflection of the "I" is no longer your true self, you can not project yourself into the object of some kind of objects to think.

(2) Look at your heart.

When you watch your heart, "I" is of great importance. But the "I" is not "I", but this is always moving "I".

My so-called "wings" refers to thoughts and activities, the vast sky is home, is "I" home,
There are neither birds nor air.

(3) Emphasizing freedom instead of leaving you free

Zen is based on our true nature, with the manifestation and manifestation of our "sincerity" in practice. Zen does not rely on specific teachings, nor does it replace practice with teachings. We meditate to express our true nature, not to be enlightened.

(4) Zen koan Their symbolisms has its reasons

We should have patience and perseverance, bit by bit to find out what kind of lifestyle is right for us, what is the best way for us to get along with ourselves and get along with others. In this way, we have our own set of precepts. But the establishment of norms to be cautious, strict wide and moderate, too strict words will stifle difficult, too loose words will have no effect.

The tradition of Zen is also set up: In practice, it is a bit of groping. There should be no reluctance in the specification, but once the norm is established, it should be strictly adhered to until there is a need to change the specification.

(5) Only practice can let you experience the pure heart

The only way to experience the pure heart is to practice.

You must be convinced of the "big heart" that is always with you, and you should take everything as a manifestation of your heart and appreciate it. It's not just a belief, it's the ultimate truth you can't deny.

(6) The heart is always with us

This is why the Tao Yuan Master will say, "Do not expect all people in meditation to realize this heart that is always with us." "What he means is that if you think your heart is outside of you, it's not your practice, it's wrong, and your heart is always with us."

"Zen" is not only for those who understand the cross-legged meditation and the great wisdom of the people, everyone has the Buddha-nature, each of us must find some way to embody their Buddha-nature. The practice is to directly experience the Buddha-nature of all, and everything you do should be a direct experience of Buddha-nature.
