A brief introduction to the construction of RSS reader

The RSS reader is divided into five sections, the menu bar, the shortcut Bar, the channel list area, the title area and the content area. (Figure 1)

1. Menu bar

Located below the reader title bar. Based on user habits, files, edits, views, jumps, channels, channel groups, tools, and help are set up here. New Delete channel groups, channels, import and export channel groups, channels, channel property settings and other operations can be done here.

2. Shortcut toolbar

Located under the menu bar, including adding channel groups, new channels, channel previews, import channels, export channels, add attention, window switch, help and browse the network and so on.

3. Channel List Area

Located on the left side of the reader body, including the channel group and my focus two partitions. The channel group lists the default and user-set channel groups first, and then lists the channels as a submenu. My focus lists my own customized focus content.

4. Title Area

Located above the right side of the reader body. Lists the reading status, title, publication time, and author of all messages in the selected channel or focus, sorted by user settings. Double-click the title to open the title details, which is the title area and content area automatically merged to facilitate users to read. All open channels will be listed at the top of the title area to facilitate viewing back and forth.

5. Content Area

Located below the right side of the reader body. Displays the link address and summary content for the selected title, and so on.

In order to better use the reader, you must understand the meaning of the relevant nouns in the reader. The key terms associated with the reader are explained below.

1.RSS Resources

It is understood to be a network link address that includes the most recently published content topics, summaries, authors, detailed publishing addresses, and release times. 5. Channel Properties

Each channel details, including: Name, address, update time. Users can view or modify channels themselves.

6. My focus

Gather the information that is found in all channels based on the user's own custom rules, which saves a lot of time and effort and does not omit any useful information without the user going to each channel to find information about a particular focus.

7. Reading status

Each piece of content is made up of two reading States, including read and unread.

A brief introduction to the use of RSS reader

1. Use skills

You can do all sorts of things through the menu bar, shortcut Bar, or by clicking the right mouse button in the channel list area and the title area.

2. New Channel Group

After selecting the new channel Group feature in various ways, determine the name of the channel group. The channel group will be listed in the channel list. You can subscribe the same type of channel to the Channel group, which makes it easy to manage and view.

3. Subscribe to New channels

After you choose to subscribe to the new channel feature in a variety of ways, the system will pop up a properties window for the new subscription channel. By customizing the URL path of the RSS resource you want to subscribe to, the name of the new channel, and the names of the channel groups that belong to it, and customizing the various properties, click OK to subscribe to the new channel. (Figure 2)

A more convenient way to subscribe to a new channel is to find the RSS feed you want to subscribe to on www.boyue.com. By clicking on the subscription button at the back of the resource, the reader pops up a Properties window for the new subscription channel, and the system automatically adds the URL path to the RSS resource, The name of the new channel is OK, you only need to customize other properties, click OK to subscribe to the new channel.

4. How to get the RSS resources you need

There are a lot of Web sites that provide RSS resources, but it's hard for average users to find the RSS resources they want. 5. New My focus

This feature makes it easy and quick to find your focus from a large list of information. You only need to customize your focus rules, the system will automatically follow the rules from the custom channel to find the relevant content, and the results of the search together to show.

Select my focus in the channel list, and then right-click in the area to select New Focus, and then the system will pop up the new Focused dialog box. (Figure 3)

After you have identified the title and the channel group you want to find, add the relevant keywords and click OK to add a focus. This will automatically bring together the content associated with the focus in all channels that you customize, without having to look for the content.

6. Update content

If you do not do anything, the system will update the subscription based on the set time of the update. Users can also update content at any time according to their own needs.

If you want to update the entire content, you will need to click the "Channel Group" in the menu bar and select "Reread all channel groups", and the system updates all subscribed channel groups.

If you want to update a channel group or channel only, you can select the channel group or channel, and then right-click to select Refresh and update the channel group or channel.

If you only want to update without channels, double-click the channel list directly.

7. Search for what you want

You can quickly find what you want by selecting the search in all channel Groups feature in the Channel group on the menu bar.
