Reading Notes for the dream code 01

Description of the difficulties and difficulties faced by software engineering in the dream code, even five years later, may not be out of date. As the author said, the book describes the story of a group of people standing side by side to carry the code stone. Despite the hardships, they still want to push it to the top of the hill, it is this story that has created the various software running on hundreds of millions of servers and PCs around the world today, and has created a great dream for humanity to constantly surpass and realize. A group of people are on their way to embrace the ideal of changing the world, but while pursuing it, they find that the peak of those close at hand has become so far out of reach; when I crossed a mountain standing in front of me, I thought I had come to the foot of the ideal mountain, but I found this was another barrier that I needed to overcome.

The software development process is sometimes such an experience. The goal is at your fingertips, but when you reach out and pick it up, you will find that there is still a distance to go, problems continue to emerge with the development. This is like a trainer sitting on the back of an elephant, playing tricks for the elephant with bananas hanging in front of the elephant's nose.

Why does software development sometimes enter such a depressing black hole?
The author of the book does not, nor can it give us an answer, but the real case that the author faithfully records in the book happened shortly after now, as well as an introduction to the software development history and methods, this book should bring us a lot of useful inspiration and thinking.
